We are looking for an enthusiastic mechanical engineering intern to provide support for our Cleveland Mechanical Department. You will have. As a mechanical engineering intern, you will collaborate with our mechanical engineering.

Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems on municipal water treatment plants, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power plants, and private industrial water applications in different locations across North America. Every project has its own unique challenges, and you are considered a resource for solutions to those challenges.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
* Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
* Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
* Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
* Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
* Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
* Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.
* Coordinate design with other design disciplines throughout the life of a project.
* Assist with mentoring engineers in training (EIT) to develop and strengthen their skills and technical abilities.
* Travel to job sites in your state of residence and other states (5%)
Your Capabilities and Credentials
* In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
* Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
* Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.
* Ability to lead one or more projects simultaneously.
* Experience with HVAC load calculation software - HAP or Trace.
* Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in designing HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, chemical storage rooms, and hydroelectric power plants.
* Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems serving wastewater treatment plants.

Job Description
AECOM has a position available for a Substation Engineering Lead with a specialization in utility substation design.
This position can be based out of any AECOM office located in Dallas, TX; Arlington, VA; Austin, TX; Baltimore, MD; Bloomfield, NJ; Burlington, NJ; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; Conshohocken, PA.
This position is hybrid.
The focus of your experience must be in the power delivery industry and be associated with electrical engineering with respect to the physical design of utility scale substation development.
The responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to:
* Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
* Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for substation scopes.
* Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
* Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
* Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.
* Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
* Prepares technical specification sections.
* Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
* Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances.
* Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work.
* Remove any impediments that are obstructing the engineering team from achieving its goals.
* Works to advise Management about how to maximize ROI for the team.
* Attending all client technical review meetings.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 6 years of relevant high voltage substation design (physical) experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
* Professional engineer license (PE)
* Experience with use of AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation
* Experience with use of CDEGS, WinIGS
Preferred Qualifications:
* Proficiency in assessing mechanical forces and thermal effects of high fault currents on rigid bus
* Knowledge of construction practices and constructability
* Experience with proposal writing and project estimating
* Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes
* EIT Certification
* 2-3 years of overseeing and managing a project team
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and assignments.
* Superior Verbal & Written Communications
* Good knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to substations.
* Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code
