**Job Description**
AECOM is seeking a talented Transportation Engineer or Transportation Planner to work on a team supporting our contract with Florida's Turnpike Enterprise located in Ocoee, Florida.
This position will be responsible for the application of the recently developed statewide tour-based model along with the application of regional travel demand models. The job duties include fulfillment of model enhancement, data updates, code maintenance, and project application requests for innovative toll project evaluations while contributing to a multidisciplinary team specializing in planning, economic feasibility analysis and design of toll roads.
**Primary Functions:**
The Transportation Engineer/Planner will utilize skills and experience to create and update model data, code towards the project application using the following programs / modeling platforms: Visum, TransCAD, QGIS, R, and Python software, as well as use of Generative AI (LLMs or Chatbots).
The Engineer/Planner will work to assemble and prepare data for model validation and long-range future year travel forecasts; model validation to required accuracy standards; development of forecasts for toll road projects; and documentation of results. As part of the model design, the Engineer/Planner will use QGIS/ArcGIS with related database development and application skills, along with SQL/Python/R or other programming languages. Position will also utilize analytical skills for research on design, data development, and statistical analyses to address perceived model shortcomings and recommend an improved modeling approach.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning or related field
+ 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educatiobn
+ Knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of transportation planning applications, specifically the disaggregate choice demand modeling such as Tour-based, Activity-Based Models and route choice modeling in Micro-simulation and Macro-Dynamic Traffic Assignment (macro DTA);
+ Programming and scripting experience with at least two of the following: C++ (preferred), JAVA, Pascal, and scripting languages such as Python(preferred), Rscript (preferred);
+ Proficient using development environments Eclipse and Visual Studio including use of AI to assist in code development and debugging;
+ Knowledge of travel demand modeling software, such as Cube, TransCAD, and Visum (preferred);
+ Knowledge of choice models, development, and application to travel demand, use of econometrics in estimating demand models from survey data;
+ Knowledge of GIS and database analysis including developing scripts to process data in and out of GIS files or automated routines in QGIS / ArcGIS.
+ Experience utilizating advanced techniques with modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of planning sciences, data sciences (preferred) and related disciplines;
+ Experience with Cloud technologies, Web Apps is helpful along with version control software like GitHub and Subversion but not a must have requirement.

+ Proficient in technical writing skills and verbal communication abilities to present modeling results for various stakeholders (clients, TRB or IBTTA conferences, model user groups).

This position leads the development of cost estimates for large-scale, complex construction works, often part of major multi-year programs. This position is responsible for coordinating with diverse technical design teams and independent cost estimating teams to assess and validate costs and risks. This position prepares and validates cost and change management reports and produces regular budget/cost reports.
To be successful in this role, you must:
Leads the development of comprehensive cost estimates based on total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, labor, risk, and general conditions for construction projects of large size and high complexity.
Oversees and prepares conceptual estimates, change order estimates, and other estimates for large, complex projects. Ensuring alignment with project goals assessing and validating costs and risks of project.

What you will do:
Oversee design, planning, project delivery and other related services within the area.
Identify business opportunities and lead the successful pursuit of Lanf Development design projects.
Responsible for maintaining client relationships.
Provide strong leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to an existing Land Development team.
Further develop and mentor other members of the team.
Manage successful project performance including production, staffing, profitability, quality, etc.
Directly manage projects as well as oversee other project managers on various projects.
Work closely with Halff leaders and manage resources to successfully workshare across the company on multiple projects.
What you will need:
10+ years of experience with commercial, industrial and/or residential development.
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Florida.
Ability to lead a project and supervise technical staff.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Client interaction and development.
A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success.

* Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
* Attend site visits and meetings in clients' offices.

* Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources or in another related field and must have completed at least 3 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor's degree and plan to continue with the Master's degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree emphasis in water resources, water or wastewater treatment, or conveyance/pipelines.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
* Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
* Proficient in Civil 3D, Revit, ArcMap, SWMM, ICPR, or other engineering software packages.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project.
