Your Opportunity
Join Stantec's Cultural Resources team in and around our Riverview, Jacksonville, and Tallahassee, FL offices to play an integral role in conducting archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring. Stantec is seeking archaeological technicians for an upcoming Phase III project in Tennessee, scheduled to begin in October, with the possibility of extension. Priority will be given to those with Phase II or Phase III experience. There is also potential for further work beyond this project. GDS Team Leader (GIS) - US Gulf Region

Our Environmental Geospatial and Data Services Business Center (BC) is seeking a Team Leader to oversee, grow, and manage our Geospatial team in the Gulf Coast region. This region includes Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, with most of our operations concentrated in Texas and Florida.
The position is based in the Gulf Coast region, with preference given to candidates located in Texas or Florida.
Our Business Center comprises over 160 Geospatial and Data Specialists serving both the United States and Canada. On average, our specialists have 15 years of experience and have been with the company for approximately 10 years.
The Team Leader will report to the Business Center Operating Leader (BCOL) and collaborate closely with Business Center Practice Leaders (BCPLs) and other Team Leaders-both within our BC and across other BCs-to manage workload, support staff development, and pursue business opportunities.
At Stantec, Team Leaders are expected to work from the office at least three days per week.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Oversee geospatial and data services activities within the Gulf Coast region for the Business Center (BC).
- Strategize, plan, and coordinate project assignments to ensure efficient execution.
- Actively manage geospatial projects and tasks, including spatial data workflows, budgets, and timelines.
- Oversee staff utilization and resource allocation, collaborating with BC leadership (BCOL, BCPLs, and other Team Leaders) as needed to support team growth and performance.
- Address personnel and project-related issues proactively and constructively.
- Provide leadership and management to direct reports, including recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
- Lead the Year-End Performance Review (YEPR) and compensation review process in accordance with Stantec policy.

- Lead business development efforts for geospatial services in the region.
- Support and review cost estimates and budget development for proposals and new opportunities.

- Lead by example and promote cross-team collaboration.
- Foster a strong health and safety culture within the team.
- Manage formal and informal training initiatives, provide mentorship, and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Collaborate with BCPLs and technical teams to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement in field operations.
- Work with BC leadership to promote integration across disciplines and geographies.
- Complete operational tasks such as reviewing and approving timecards, expenses, and vacation requests.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in Esri ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap (for legacy projects), ArcGIS Online, and the ArcGIS Field Maps App.
- Advanced knowledge of the Esri product suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write clear and compelling proposals and reports.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Proven experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering geospatial products and analytical solutions in the context of environmental studies is considered an asset.

Your Impact:

* Understands engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles at a basic level.
* Shows proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Accepts and applies direction from peers and supervisors.
* Obtains an understanding of introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures and requirements.
* Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
* Ability to organize information for use in drawings or other documents
What We Prefer:
* Pursuing a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
* Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program
* Strong interest in Transportation
* Previous research experience
