We are currently looking for an Estimating Engineer Intern for our Houston, TX office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will assist the Estimating team in effectively responding to customer needs, enabling the company to compete and win projects. The Estimating team has identified a need to improve the quality of the data that is being used/analyzed to generate estimates. This internship will be primarily focused on Estimating, Data Analysis, and Reporting to assist employees in competing in the market for new projects.

Primary Purpose
The Transmission Lines Engineering (TLE) Overhead and Underground Designer and Doc Control will be assisting lead designers in reviewing all Issue For Records (IFR) packages from vendors and importing them to internal systems, updating Transmission records, and retaining records for Transmission Overhead (TOH) and or Transmission Underground (TUG) teams by scanning all historical Transmission drawings and records and retaining them in internal systems. The designer will assist in developing TLE Document Control specific processes and associated procedures ensuring documents and changes comply with established requirements of TLE department. They will assist is transferring design models to AutoCAD drawings. They will work under supervision to assist TOH TUG designers. Skills in PLS-CADD, modeling Transmission Lines structures, or Transmission Underground designs are a plus.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

* Assists experienced engineers in performing well-defined engineering assignments exercising independent discretion; (e.g. Collect data, perform analysis, interpret results, & draw conclusions)

**Primary Purpose**
The Transmission Lines Engineering (TLE) Overhead and Underground Designer and Doc Control will be assisting lead designers in reviewing all Issue For Records (IFR) packages from vendors and importing them to internal systems, updating Transmission records, and retaining records for Transmission Overhead (TOH) and or Transmission Underground (TUG) teams by scanning all historical Transmission drawings and records and retaining them in internal systems. The designer will assist in developing TLE Document Control specific processes and associated procedures ensuring documents and changes comply with established requirements of TLE department. They will assist is transferring design models to AutoCAD drawings. They will work under supervision to assist TOH TUG designers. Skills in PLS-CADD, modeling Transmission Lines structures, or Transmission Underground designs are a plus.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Voith Hydro Inc is looking for a motivated and energetic Mechatronics Technician to join its maintenance team. In this role, the job duties range from installing simple lighting circuits to troubleshooting modern CNC controls of multi-axis machining centers. From a mechanical perspective the job could entail working on mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance on controls' cabinets
Test servo motors with megger
Rebuilt motor starter contactors
Adjust VFD setpoints to change motor behavior
Inspect for hot spots with an infrared camera
Setup CNC linear measurement hardware
Test I/O cards within PLC controls
Setup limit switches and proximity switches
Run conduit and pull wire for solenoid valves
Size conduit and wiring for 480V power disconnect
Troubleshoot welding power supplies
Adjust position set points for a machine tool
Communicating with customers regarding their engineering design-related questions and concerns
Mechanical system disassembly and reassembly
Pneumatics controls and plumbing
Hydraulic system diagnosis and repair
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Highschool diploma
Journeyperson Card (related to the job opening)
Experience with PLCs
Ability to interpret electrical schematics
Experience with mechanical systems and controls
Ability to work on heights
Ability to pass math and writing test
PA driver's license

Essential Duties:
* Install, configure, and maintain industrial automation hardware, including PLC modules, I/O cards, communication networks, and field instrumentation.
* Perform advanced troubleshooting on instrumentation loops, control systems, and automation networks to quickly resolve system faults and minimize downtime.
* Conduct routine calibration and verification of transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and safety instrumentation to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance.
* Execute preventive and predictive maintenance on all instrumentation and control assets using CMMS work order systems.
* Support the integration of SCADA system upgrades, network expansions, and communication protocol conversions (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
* Assist engineering teams in developing and implementing SIL (Safety Integrity Level) and functional safety requirements for critical control systems.
* Perform loop checks, I/O verification, and functional testing during system startups, shutdowns, and plant turnarounds.

* Ensure all instrumentation installations follow NEC, ISA, and NEMA guidelines, with proper wiring, shielding, and environmental protection.

* Participate in HAZOPs, PSSRs, MOCs, and other process safety activities by providing instrumentation-focused technical expertise.
* Support cybersecurity safeguards on automation systems by assisting with patching, network segmentation, and access control procedures.
* Document all maintenance activities, calibration records, wiring changes, and control logic modifications for audit readiness and traceability.
* Provide 24/7 technical support or on-call coverage during critical operations, outages, or equipment failures as required.
* Train operators and maintenance personnel on equipment functionality, proper use of control systems, and safe troubleshooting practices.

POSITION SUMMARY
The I&C Engineer/Specialist at Southern Company is pivotal in the renewable energy sector, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Operational Technology (OT) systems. These systems are essential for the monitoring and control of renewable energy generation facilities and remote operations centers (ROC), including battery energy storage, wind, and solar projects. This role will provide project and technical support for control, SCADA, and OT systems at existing and new facilities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
_Education:_
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (ABET accredited), Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline
+ Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Controls, or related technical degree
_Experience:_
+ Experience in one or both of the following areas is strongly preferred:
+ Using and managing plant control and/or SCADA systems.
+ Using and managing OT systems.
+ Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) experience preferred.
+ Ignition SCADA integration or configuration and Human Machine Interface (HMI) experience preferred.
+ Windows Server administration (e.g. Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, Windows Clustering, iSCSI, DNS and DHCP) experience preferred.
+ Microsoft SQL Server or other popular database servers, VMware or other hypervisors, and disaster recovery solutions (e.g. Acronis Cyber Protect or Quest Rapid Recovery) experience a plus.
+ Data management techniques using industrial automation communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, OPC, DNP3) experience a plus.
+ Inverter Based Resource (IBR) SCADA or control system experience a plus.
_Key Responsibilities:_
+ Development and maintenance of SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control of renewable energy facilities and ROCs.
+ Development of process control equipment, including Real-Time Automation Controllers (RTAC), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and miscellaneous renewable generation-related instrumentation.
+ Further the development, process implementation, and procedures of company standards for renewable control and SCADA systems.
+ Provide project engineering and configuration for control logic and/or SCADA, including device interface, tag lists, operator graphics, and process alarm implementation.
+ Create and maintain schematics, documentation, and diagrams as needed for existing systems, new implementations, upgrades, and changes.
