The candidate will utilize practical skill and knowledge as a Cutter Grinder to analyze specifications, set up and operate machine tools and repair cutting tools. The work requires interpreting specifications, blueprints, manufacturers' manuals, sketches or similar documents. The Cutter Grinder plans the sequence of operation and materials required according to knowledge of computer technology, such as computer aided design (CAD), or computer aided manufacturing (CAM), to perform complex cutter grinding operations. The Cutter Grinder will test and inspect the tools and cutter grinder equipment to ensure that they are true to the original design and function properly. Excellent communication and problem solving skills will be necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must comply and support all applicable GMPs, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements that are referenced in the facilities GFSI food packaging safety program. Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, always taking but rolls first, and record all rolls taken to the corrugator on the proper forms. Learn to read corrugator lineups. Mark but rolls as to the size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock. Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars. Check for and note any physical damage to the rolls. Operate the clamp truck in a safe manner. Complete clamp truck inspection report at the beginning of each shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Keep warehouse organized and clean. Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department. Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed. Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals. Assist the corrugator operator as instructed by supervision. Make starch as needed per company formula. Check viscosities on corrugator and at starch station as necessary. Accurately record daily starch checklist. Maintain the wastewater treatment facility. Monitor inventory levels of starch and chemicals. Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact. Assist in the wet end training of the double backer and dry end personnel. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. The Foreperson coordinates crew members, equipment, tools, and supplies in order to complete all jobs according to contract specifications.
