KIS company history timeline

1989

October 17, 1989 - KISS release the critically acclaimed Hot in the Shade, which features the top-ten hit ballad Forever.

1991

Late 1991 - KISS enters the recording studio, again with producer Bob Ezrin to record the highly praised Revenge album.

1992

July 14, 1992 - KISS Extreme Close-up long form video is released in the US.

1993

The band follows Revenge with the release of Alive III, in May 1993.

1994

August 8, 1994 - KISS KISS My Ass long form video released US.

1995

March, 1995 - KISS publishes and releases its own 9-pound, 440 page coffee table book, KISSTORY.

August 9, 1995 - KISS performs on MTV Unplugged.

1996

January 1996 - With the amazing response to the Unplugged show, plans begin for an official KISS reunion with the four original members.

April 16, 1996 - KISS officially announce the reunion of the four original members and the subsequent Alive Worldwide Reunion tour at a press conference on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in New York City.

July 25, 1996 - KISS plays four consecutive sold out shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

September 4, 1996 - KISS perform under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York for the MTV Video Music Awards.

The double-platinum selling video chronicles the story of how the four original members reunited for the Reunion tour of 1996-97.

1997

In 1997, Kiss released Carnival Of Souls: The Final Sessions which went to #27 on the Billboard 200.

1999

March 1999 - KISS graces the cover of their own issue of Playboy Magazine, the first time for any music group.

August 13, 1999 - KISS's first feature film Detroit Rock City is released by New Line Cinema.

December 31, 1999 - KISS perform a special New Year's Eve show in Vancouver, Canada's BC Place Stadium and ring in the new millennium.

2000

February 10, 2000 - KISS announce the KISS Farewell tour that kicks off in Phoenix, AZ on March 11th, becoming one of the year's top concert tours.

However, Kiss themselves announced that they would do a US Farewell Tour in 2000 — at least, the last tour for the classic lineup.

Since 2000, Taco Bell has continued to find distinctive ways to brand and partner in order to attract customers.

2001

January 2001 - On the eve of the Australia/Japanese leg of the KISS Farewell tour, Peter Criss leaves the band and is replaced by former KISS drummer Eric Singer, now donning the Catman makeup.

November 20, 2001 - KISS The Box Set is released.

2002

However, he did show up and perform with the band on their 2002 Winter Olympics’ closing ceremony.

The companies also end their joint venture Innéov, a cosmetic nutritional supplements business launched in 2002.

2003

September 9, 2003 - KISS Symphony Alive IV DVD is released and is certified platinum by the RIAA.

2004

In 2004 Criss didn’t renew his contract when it expired, and remaining original members Simmons and Stanley were to start all over again in the band.

In 2004 the company partnered with Mountain Dew soda and released Mountain Dew Baja Blast, which, for some time, could only be purchased at Taco Bell.

2005

December 13, 2005 - KISS releases the two-disc DVD KISS Rock The Nation Live! to rave reviews.

2006

October 31, 2006 - KISSOLOGY Volume 1 released.

2007

In 2007 the company began a promotion with Major League Baseball that promised one free taco to everyone in the United States for every stolen base in the World Series.

2008

January, 2008 - KISSOLOGY DVD series certified by the RIAA 20X platinum!

In 2008, Kiss returned to the studio to record Sonic Boom which was released the following year.

In 2008 it bought a controlling interest in JSC Lebedyansky, Russia’s largest juice manufacturer, and three years later it completed its acquisition of Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods.

2009

April 3, 2009 - KISS open ALIVE 35 South American tour in Santiago, Chile.

October 6, 2009 - KISS release Sonic Boom, their first studio album in 11 years.The album receives world-wide critical acclaim from fans and press!

In 2009 Taco Bell became the official fast-food partner of the NBA, replacing McDonald’s.

2011

October, 13, 2011 - KISS launch the first-ever KISS KRUISE with over 2500 fans from around the globe.

2012

October 9, 2012 - KISS release MONSTER, their 20th studio album.

A similar promotion began in 2012 in a partnership with Frito Lay; the result, Doritos Locos Tacos, saw considerable success.

2013

In late 2013, the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame announced that Kiss was set to be inducted into this prestigious honor.

2014

And in April 2014, the band were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

2015

Then, in 2015 Taco Bell released its vegan and vegetarian menu, introduced a limited delivery service in the United States, and opened its first location that sold alcohol (in Chicago).
