Responsibilities:
Assisting cooks in the preparation of meal ingredients, Helping other staff with unloading food items from delivery trucks Washing and drying the utensils, dishes, and cookware. Storing ingredients and food supplies in compliance with food safety standards Mopping and sweeping the kitchen areas as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work weekends and holidays Excellent communication skills Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Previous experience preferred Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
Salary Range:
Range generally starting between $16.00 - 17.00 an hour.

Job Duties


Operate an industrial dishwasher, washing dishes and glassware by hand when necessary
Unload dishes, silverware, and glassware promptly and store them in the appropriate places
Carry out basic cleaning tasks around the premises, including emptying trash cans, cleaning drink machines, and cleaning any spills and broken glass immediately
Assist cooks and servers as needed, especially during peak hours
Report any serious incidents to upper management, such as machine failure or broken facilities

Department Profile

The Food Service department prepares and serves over 1,236,100 meals annually for patients throughout the hospital. In addition, they prepare and serve over 1,273,684 meals per year for Team Members and guests in the Cafeteria. Dietary provides food for the Physician Lounges, Catering, Floor Supplies for patients and guest trays delivered to patient rooms. The team is in charge of nourishing all patients, team members and guests at Tampa General Hospital.

Job Summary

The Kitchen Assistant cleans and sanitizes dinnerware and kitchenware. Empties and cleans department trash containers and maintains all floors. Cleans as required to maintain department sanitation standards for public and department areas. Performs computer-related activities as required.
** This is a dish washing position.

Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D preferred.
1 year of food service experience in a hospital, commercial restaurant, or other food service operation.
Ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions in English.
Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
Ability to accurately follow instructions when using, disposing, and mixing chemicals.
