Kitsap Transit is a Public Transportation Benefit Area Authority (PTBAA) established by public vote in 1982.
In 1982, voters formed the new public transportation authority and authorized 0.3 percent of sales tax funding to support it.
Originally from New York, the Finest was purchased in January 2018 from New York Waterway.
When Kitsap Transit established the Kingston Fast Ferry to Seattle in 2018, residents were delighted to be able to travel to Seattle in just 40 minutes.
