KLA company history timeline

1997

By 1997, the company's revenues approached $600 million.

1998

The first, in February 1998, was the purchase of Nanopro GmbH, a German-based developer of advanced interferometric technology used in chip measurement.

1999

In 1999 KLA-Tencor acquired the assets of the Ultrapointe subsidiary of Uniphase Corp., which made a product that analyzed defects on silicon wafers, and Acme Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of yield analysis software.

2000

The 2000 was an automated wafer inspection system, called WISARD, which found defects in wafers and looked for circuitry errors after the reticle pattern had been projected onto the wafer.

In 2000, the company announced plans to move its headquarters from San Jose to Livermore, California, where it would construct a six-building complex.

2005

A 2005 Electronic Business article focused on the company’s product development and internal training programs while highlighting KLA-Tencor as one of Silicon Valley’s most innovative companies.

2011

In 2011 KLA-Tencor celebrated its 35th anniversary.”

2018

The Zeta-388 wins the 2018 Compound Semiconductor industry metrology award for patterned sapphire substrate (PSS) applications.

2019

Filmetrics joins the KLA Instruments group on March 6, 2019 and becomes Filmetrics, A KLA Company.

In 2019, KLA-Tencor changed their name to KLA Corporation
