MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as a liaison and advocate between medical staff, other health facilities, social services and/or other resources on behalf of the patients needs.
2. Provide additional social services, as indicated by medical diagnosis and/or physical condition of the patient, including but not limited to; household chores, preparing food, and assisting with personal care such as bathing or hair washing.
3. Facilitate patient utilization of all available and recommended services. Provide explanation to patients of how to access them.
4. Provide transportation to medical and dental facilities, when no other transportation is available, as directed by supervisor.
5. Provide home visits to eligible Tribal members to insure health and other related needs are being met. Refer patients in need of additional assistance to proper facility and/or resource.
6. Take vital signs during home visits if indicated and report abnormal results to the Community Health Nursing Supervisor and/or Medical Director.
7. Provide point of care lab testing (finger sticks and urinalysis) and venipuncuture (blood draws) under the supervision of the nurse, as assigned.
8. Deliver supplies, medication and/or equipment to patients when ordered by a medical provider, as needed.
9. Maintain comprehensive documentation in patient records to ensure quality assurance and compliance with reporting requirements, including but not limited to utilizing the RPMS CHR system.
10. Assist in maintaining and improving the health of pre and postnatal patients, infants, and children.

2. Assist in working with school-age students who have been identified with speech and language disorders including: articulation, fluency, voice, auditory comprehension, and expressive language.
3. Keep current on best practices for SLPA's
4. Contribute productively to the school as a whole

6. Self-identify as SLPA to families, students, staff, and others. This may be done verbally, in writing, and/or with titles on name badges.
7. Exhibit compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations, reimbursement requirements, and SLPAs' responsibilities.
8. Assist the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation.
9. Assist the SLP during assessment of students exclusive of administration and/or interpretation.
10. Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
11. Document student performance (e.g., tallying data for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLP.
12. Assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP.
13. Perform checks and maintenance of equipment.
14. Assist with departmental operations (scheduling, recordkeeping, safety/maintenance of supplies and equipment).
15. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
16. Other duties as assigned.

The TOP Advisor powers the potential of TRIO students at Oregon Tech by providing holistic and wrap-around advising support to a caseload of up to approximately 75 students.Additionally, the TOP Advisor teaches student success seminar classes, coordinates Tech Opportunities Program ( TOP ) events, and manages student peer mentor staff. Finally, the TOP Advisor collaborates cross-institutionally and community-wide with program stakeholders in referring program participants to services on an as-needed basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology. Student Affairs, or related area. OR; Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Student Affairs AND 5 years of experience in education or social services (or combined). Two years of experience advising/counseling college students. Experience working or participating in programs for historically excluded students such as TRIO Bi-lingual Spanish language fluency
