Klinger Companies company history timeline

1919

Klinger Companies, Inc. was established in 1919.

1922

1922: KLINGER manufactures the first valve with an elastic, replaceable sealing system for the high temperature range.

1923

1923 Richard Klinger invests in the public lighting infrastructure of Gumpoldskirchen.

1928

In 1928 Karl Klinger takes over the business.

1928: The development of seals for internal combustion engines opens up a new market segment - the production of brake pads.

1931

In 1931 the company is converted into a joint stock company.

1939

Now Klinger Paint no longer relied solely on other companies for its customers.Leo Takes Over In 1939, Wesley's son Leo took over the reins of the company.

1950

And in 1950, Leo's sons, Bob and Don and Jim, joined the company and played leading roles in the growth of the business.

1957

In 1957 Hubert Klinger-Lohr becomes the new managing director of the Group.

1968

1968: Production of large industrial-scale ball valves: KLINGER Ballostar, a star product that is still used today in numerous district heating plants worldwide.

1973

Asbestos-free seals were considered to be rare and innovative back in 1973, when Peter Bartsch founded his engineering office in Wallenhorst, near Osnabrück, Germany, selling pumps and carbon parts.

1980

1980 KLINGERSIL®, the world's first high-pressure jointing sheet based on synthetic and mineral fibres, is developed.

1982

1982: Development of PTFE sealing materials and introduction of KLINGERSIL, the world's first asbestos-free jointing material.

1992

1992 The production of KLINGER®top-chem is launched.

1994

In 1994 the first asbestos-free gaskets are developed.

1996

1996 The production of KLINGER®top-chem is launched.

2000

In 2000 Peter Bartsch sold Bartsch Kohle / Graphitprodukte GmbH & Co.

2001

KG to KLINGER GmbH, and the three separate companies merged to form Bartsch GmbH. Even after Peter Bartsch left the company on 31 December 2001 the corporate policy stayed firmly on course, thanks to its clear focus on quality and sustainability.

2004

2004 Celebration of the 111th anniversary and inauguration of the new office Building.

2009

The previous CEO Michael Wüllerich leaves the company on 01.01.2009.

2010

As of January 1, 2010 the shares of Convey Flow Control GmbH based in Brettorf were taken over by KLINGER Holding Deutschland GmbH. In the further course of the transaction, the business operations of Convey Flow Control GmbH are integrated into KLINGER SCHÖNEBERG GmbH through an asset deal.

2013

His place will be taken by Klaus Eberhardt, who has been a member of the ElringKlinger AG Supervisory Board since May 2013.

2014

Co., Ltd. and built a new state-of-the-art production facility at the new site in Gumi, which operates since 2014.

2015

For strategic reasons, the business unit of KLINGER SCHÖNEBERG GmbH at the Brettorf location was outsourced to an independent company, KLINGER Convey GmbH, with effect from 01.01.2015.

2017

Here it was shown that KLINGER Schöneberg was even able to increase its result from 2017.

2018

Sale of Hug Engineering AG, Elsau, Switzerland, formally completed as of March 1, 2018.

2019

The first fuel cell application testing stations are expected to begin operation in 2019.

In this context, the "Research and Development" department will be more strongly positioned in terms of personnel and equipment by the end of 2019.
