1929

The company debuted its patented Simmerring radial shaft ring in 1929, setting an industry standard.

Founded in 1929, Klüber Lubrication produced special purpose lubricants such as extreme temperature lubricants and ultra-pure lubricants for ultra-small ball bearings.

1929: The company begins seal manufacturing.

1936

The original leather used proved too fragile for the intense demands placed on the seal and in 1936 the company developed a synthetic rubber replacement.

1936: The company introduces synthetic rubber-based seals.

1948

Freudenberg introduced its first staple-fiber nonwovens in 1948, marketing the Vileda Window Cloth and other household products using the Vileda brand name and interlinings under the Vlieseline brand name.

1948: The company launches first nonwoven products.

1949

The company's growing expertise in a wide range of materials was extended again in 1949 when the company turned its production of rubber used in its Simmerring operations to a new sector, that of floor-coverings.

1949: The company begins manufacturing rubber floor-coverings.

1951

The company came to the United States in 1951, forming a partnership to produce nonwovens in that country.

1956

1956: The company begins production of vibration control systems.

1960

Freudenberg found a new international market and new and lasting international partnerships in 1960.

1960: The company forms joint ventures with NOK and Vilene.

1965

1965: Spunbonded nonwovens are introduced.

1969

1969 Klüber Lubrication expands its business activities to Spain, Switzerland and Scandinavia and gains additional international presence.

1971

1971 Klüber Lubrication crosses the Atlantic ocean and opens a subsidiary in Brazil.

1976

In 1976, the two companies founded NOK Klüber Co.

1978

OKS has been founded by Friedrich Kuhn-Weiss in the year 1978.

1981

In 1981 the companies, together with Mekton, of Japan, inaugurated Simflex, in Weinheim, for the production of flexible printed circuit boards.

The company's name has been OMNIKOTE before being changed into OKS in 1981.

1989

In 1989, NOK and Freudenberg combined their United States seals and vibration controls operations into a single body, Freudenberg NOK General Partners.

1991

A new market was found in 1991 when the company began producing and marketing MicronAir filters, using the company's nonwoven materials, for automotive air intake systems.

1995

1995: The company is reorganized as Freudenberg & Co.

1996

Freudenberg and partners NOK and Vilene took the leap into the Chinese market, forming joint venture production and distribution companies for both seal and nonwovens in 1996.

1997

1997: Freudenberg Politex Nonwovens joint venture is formed.

1999

The Seals and Vibration Control business groups combine to provide more than DM 3.4 billion of the company's DM 7.08 billion in sales in 1999.

The company also acquired Marelli & Berta SpA, a manufacturer of nonwoven linings based in Italy; Meillor SA, a France-based manufacturer of flat gaskets; and Xerex Corp, a producer of fleece based in South Korea, in 1999.

2001

2001: Elefant shoe subsidiary is sold.

2003

2003 OKS Spezialschmierstoffe GmbH are taken over.

2004

2004 Klüber Lubrication inaugurates its new Technology-Centre in Munich after just 18 month since the start of the construction works.

2005

2005 Klüber Lubrication celebrates its 25th anniversary engagement in China.

2006

2006 Establishment of its own company in Russia has strengthened Klüber Lubrication's basis for effective care of existing customers and acquisition of new customers in the largest country of the world.

2007

2007 Klüber Lubrication and Chem-Trend strengthened their presence in Asia by founding each their own companies in Thailand.

2008

2008 Klüber Lubrication and Chem-Trend are setting up their new production site in Qingpu near Shanghai in China.

2010

2010 FCS buys SurTec International GmbH in Zwingenberg and adds products for surface treatments and electroplating technology to its portfolio.

2011

2011 OKS moves into ist new HQs at the city of Maisach, close to Munich.

2016

2016 Inauguration of the new plant in Valinhos, Brazil, jointly operated by Chem-Trend and SurTec.

2020

2020 Klüber Lubrication acquires the German speciality lubricant maker TRAXIT, headquartered in Schwelm, Germany.
