Job Responsibilities: What you will do The management of bodily injury claim files, both with and without attorney representation, including investigation, evaluation, and settlement of assigned claims. This position will handle DOT claims, pre-suit bodily injury claims, and lawsuits serving as a technical resource to team members for complex claim matters. Incumbents have up to $100,000 reserve authority; $75,000 settlement authority and $50,000 payment authority. * Responsible for the investigation, liability determination, negotiation, financial analysis and settlement of claims. * Lead and direct external parties (attorneys, investigators, vendors) when necessary to bring about the successful settlement of claims. * Communicate with internal/external parties (insurance Companies/plaintiff/attorney/adjusters/witness/law enforcement, etc.) to bring about the successful settlement of claims. * Prepare for and advocate at depositions, trials and mediations for the Company. * Collaborate regularly with defense counsel to strategize and formulate plans for defense. * Responsible for following claims department processes and procedures (diary/reserving/coding /contact) in an effort to bring about the appropriate settlement of claims. * Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives. With Guidance, responsibilities include: Reviews customer claims to verify that they meet Manheim's National Arbitration policies and any account-specific guidelines. Investigates basic, less complex cases (e.g., late title claims, basic condition report claims, vehicle availability, post-sale inspection fails, mechanical/structural/undisclosed vehicle damage, etc.) or those requiring more prescriptive decision-making.
