SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Knowles seeks a motivated and creative individual to work in a fast-paced, market-oriented R&D team environment, developing MEMS technology for microphones and related mobile platform applications. A strong preference will be given to individuals with experience in MEMS process integration/process transfer and characterization of MEMS devices. Individuals will also be expected to have expertise in the knowledge of the foundry integration process, the basic of MEMS technology, data mining, statistical analysis, troubleshooting, failure prediction, DOE setup. Candidate will be expected to offer creative insights and solutions for R&D and production problems, to characterize and design MEMS process windows, to help execute and analyze statistical designed experiments and to carry out written and oral reporting.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interface with MEMS wafer foundry partners to execute on new product introductions (NPI) work.
The basic concepts of the semiconductor foundry processes are a must requirement.
Fast-reacted and responsible for any new issues and work closely with foundry suppliers.
Collaborate with cross-functional team to understand issues and drive the root cause for each issue to achieve a stable high volume mass production products.
Create and analyze statistically designed experiments to effectively evaluate process corners to identify major risks and ensure margin for high volume applications.
Develop and implement techniques for gathering and analyzing large data sets to identify currently unknown relationships between in-line metrics and final device performance.
Candidate with Failure analysis skills (SEM, FIB, TEM, SIMS, FTIR, Raman, etc.) is plus.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Master Degree or above in Engineering field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics).
Candidate with Master degree must have 7 years' process experience in MEMS or semiconductor industrial field. Candidate with PhD degree must have minimum 3 years' process experience in MEMS or semiconductor industrial field
Candidate with MEMS/semiconductor/display process integration and process transfer expertise is plus.
Statistical analysis software experience such as JMP, SAS, Minitab is preferred.
A strong background in communication, negotiation, DOE setup, data analysis and reporting skills.
Characterization/failure analysis experience in SEM, FIB, surface science analysis, interferometry, electrical testing, etc. is plus.
Knowledgeable with scripting languages; including python and JMP JSL is plus.
Ability to travel overseas occasionally and participate in evening calls with Asia

The position will work on the Air District's Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) Control Programs, designed to identify, assess, and reduce public exposure to toxic air contaminants. The programs integrate federal, state, and local regulations to:
Monitor and evaluate TAC emissions from permitted facilities through annual emissions inventories and health risk assessments
Implement the Air Toxics New Source Review (NSR) program, requiring preconstruction review and risk assessment for new or modified TAC sources
Operate Facility Risk Reduction Programs, targeting existing facilities to identify, assess, and reduce health risks, especially in communities with disproportionate air quality impacts

About this opportunity - Quality Engineer II
Description
The Operations Quality Engineer II will be responsible for supporting production quality, the transfer of neurovascular products to the production environment, and supplier quality activities. This engineer will be expected to work directly with production and suppliers while being provided moderate levels of support/guidance from other engineers and their manager to complete tasks. This position will have the responsibility to support and continuously improve current manufacturing and supplier quality processes through technical and process innovation for the manufacture of neurovascular medical devices that save patient lives.
Job Responsibilities
Daily tasks:
Production support of existing products/processes and sustaining work
Support the manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations, optimize existing processes, and ensure that production goals are met.
Develop process and procedure updates for increased efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Work with Manufacturing Engineering to correct equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues.
Analyzes nonconforming product, process, and material issues supported by use of root cause tools to drive corrective actions.
Own NCMR and CAPA investigations and corrections/corrective actions
Support requests for new supplier onboarding and offboarding
Complete tasks related to supplier changes and management of existing suppliers
Spend significant portions of time in the production environment.
Work closely with production operators and Quality Control inspectors in the production environment.
Provide feedback to Quality, Operations, Engineering and R&D on quality issues.
Detail oriented review and approval documentation in support of production and process improvement
Additional Tasks:
Development project work - design transfer, commercialization of new products, and site manufacturing transfers
Interface with New Product Development team in design control projects to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area.
Process development, validation and verification work is required - knowledge of Process Validation Plans, IQ, OQ, PQ, software validation, test method validation/gage R&R, a clear understanding of FDA's QMSR and cGMP, and a good understanding in the application of statistics to process analysis and improvement.
Communicate with suppliers to address quality concerns and resolves issues.
Maintain and develop processes and procedures by writing standard work instructions for operations involved with production and quality.

Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Bioprocess Engineer - Downstream is a front-line Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the operational execution of Bionova's downstream bioprocesses, including chromatography, filtration (depth, TFF, virus filtration), and formulation activities. This role ensures consistent delivery of GMP-compliant drug substance through deviation ownership, process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The BPS works closely with manufacturing staff and cross-functional teams to mature Bionova's purification processes and drive reliable supply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Support
Act as SME for downstream operations (column packing, chromatography, UF/DF, filtration, pooling, and formulation).
Provide technical guidance and floor support for real-time issue resolution.
Monitor process data and control parameters to ensure consistent product quality.
Material management and coordination with Supply Chain.
Deviation & Change Management
Investigate, manage, and own downstream-related deviations in the Quality Management System.
Perform root cause analysis and implement effective CAPAs.
Manage downstream-related change controls and ensure successful implementation.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
Develop and deliver training on chromatography, filtration, and purification workflows.
Mentor operators on column packing techniques, skid operation, and GMP compliance.
Ensure robust documentation of training activities.
Support MSAT with technology transfer.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to increase yield, robustness, and efficiency in downstream operations.
Apply Lean/Six Sigma tools to optimize workflows and reduce variability.
Compliance & Documentation
Author, revise, and review downstream SOPs, Electronic batch records, and work instructions.
Ensure readiness for audits by maintaining GMP compliance across upstream operations.
Working Conditions:
This position required to work in a lab/office setting. The role requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds independently.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
BA/BS in Biological Science, Biotechnology, or Biochemical Engineering with 4 years' experience in upstream pharmaceutical manufacturing; OR
MS with 2 years' experience in GMP upstream operations.
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience with purification unit operations (chromatography, filtration, UF/DF).
Knowledge of process automation platforms (e.g., Unicorn, DeltaV).
Familiarity with biochemical principles underlying protein purification.
Knowledge of process automation and single-use technologies.
Familiarity with scientific principles driving biologics production.
Strong deviation ownership, CAPA development, and technical writing skills.
Ability to troubleshoot complex downstream issues and coach others effectively.
Strong problem-solving and facilitation skills.
Experience in training/mentoring operators in GMP downstream processes.
Project management or Operational Excellence/Six Sigma background.
Compensation Range: The base compensation range for this role is between $80,000 and $90,000. However, the actual compensation may vary depending on your experience and qualifications.
