Koch-Glitsch company history timeline

1945

Fred Koch established Koch Engineering in 1945, and the company developed its own tray technologies.

1961

Led by his son Charles, who joined the company in 1961, Koch Industries has grown from those modest beginnings into the second-largest privately held company in North America, according to Forbes, and a global conglomerate with annual revenues of more than $60 billion.

1967

Fred C. Koch, co-founder of what is now his namesake, Koch Industries, grew up in Texas and trained as an engineer at MIT. He developed an improved method of converting heavy oil into gasoline and was involved in refining, engineering and ranching businesses prior to his death in 1967.

1995

United States companies have been banned from trading with Iran since 1995, when President Bill Clinton declared it a threat to national security.

1997

By 1997, Koch Engineering and Glitsch International were both industry leaders in their respective products.

1999

In December 1999, a civil jury found that Koch Industries had taken oil it didn’t pay for from federal land by mis-measuring the amount of crude it was extracting.

2001

Koch’s refinery unit pleaded guilty in 2001 to a federal felony charge of lying to regulators and paid $20 million in fines.

2002

By that September, the researchers had found evidence of improper payments to secure contracts in six countries dating to 2002, authorized by the company’s Koch-Glitsch affiliate in France.

2006

In November 2006, the United States Justice Department and German prosecutors opened an investigation into bribery by Munich-based Siemens, Europe’s largest engineering company.

Koch-Glitsch told employees in 2006 that the company was winding down business in Iran, Bentu says.

2009

In July 2009, Mausen sued Koch for severance and performance pay in the Arles Labor Court in France.

All Koch-Glitsch global manufacturing sites are ISO 9001-2015 certified.
