Your Job The Molex Corporate Development and Strategy team is seeking a Director of Strategy to join our team, supporting Molex's Optical Solutions business unit in the Datacom/AI market. The Strategy team is responsible for collaborating with Molex leadership to set the organization's strategic priorities and supporting teams through execution. Molex's Optical business unit is a market leader in optical products used in data transmission, such as transceivers, optical cables and connectors, amplifiers, and optical switches; sold to leading customers in data and artificial intelligence such as Amazon, Google, and others. This role will help assess new market opportunities, identify where we should compete, define the capabilities needed to succeed, and drive flawless execution against the vision. The role will be based out Molex's Fremont (San Francisco bay area) or Chicago/Lisle offices. What You Will Do You will lead strategic projects and initiatives across the Optical Solutions business, which is helping drive innovation and advancement in AI, Cloud and Data center applications. You will help define our strategies, assess new markets, new customers, or new or technical applications, support strategic decision making and investments, and interface with key business leaders to organize Molex's response to critical strategic opportunities. You will be responsible for driving collaboration with Molex business, sales and operations leaders to drive strategic decisions and execution against strategic plans. In particular, this may include: Shape our growth strategies and overall strategic planning: Collaborate with business unit leaders and Molex executives to define where and how Optical Solutions can grow. * Define our right to win across key markets, customers, products and technology applications * Build understanding of market trends, headwinds, tailwinds, risks and competition * Define critical capabilities needed for success * Prioritize and weigh alternative courses of action Identify new opportunities for inorganic growth (acquisition, licensing, etc.) and build relationships with external industry participants in support of this objective New market, customer, or technology assessments: define, lead, conduct analyses to assess the attractiveness of existing, adjacent, and white-space markets, customers, or technology applications, plus potential inorganic opportunities within those markets * Develop fact-based, economically driven, 'outside-in' perspectives on potential new market, customer or technology application spaces; update and refresh points of view on areas where Molex has existing presence * Attend trade shows, industry conferences and interface with industry experts * Perform primary and secondary market research; leverage internal and external expertise, conduct subject matter expert interviews * Identify key market trends, dynamics, value chain participants and translate into actionable insights for Molex leadership Translate insights to action through partnership across the division: * Support and coordinate execution of our strategies and projects * Identify and drive linkages with Operations, Sales, and Product teams * Help ensure clarity of Vision, adherence to timelines, alignment of requisite people / talent to key activities * Partner with Strategy Team, Molex senior leaders and cross-functional executional teams to drive consensus around priority opportunities and key execution requirements Support investment decisions for organic capacity, manufacturing space, equipment, and people resources, as well as for inorganic investments * Build the strategy for such investment decisions * Identify alternatives and weigh options * Drive alignment and influence between senior internal stakeholders * Communicate recommendations to business leadership and Molex c-suite Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * A minimum of three [LE1] years of post-MBA (or equivalent) professional experience, preferably from a data center operator, hyperscaler, datacom enterprise hardware company, optical supplier, silicon supplier, or interconnect company focused on the AI / data center space * Experience running a P&L or in Corporate Strategy or Corporate Development * Structured and logical thinking with an ability to identify core business problems and demonstrate a 'nose for value' to discern what is most critical and important * Proven strategy skillset * Proven ability to influence senior leaders' thinking * Powerful written communication skills and a proven ability to succinctly articulate key elements of complex topics in written form * Strong verbal communication and experience partnering with executives and sales leaders * An ability and understanding for how to deliver on short time frames and be committed to meeting deadlines at all times * Proven ability to manage execution of major cross-functional strategic programs, at a higher level than day-to-day project manager. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Perform all functions of Terminal Operations as directed by work orders and/or supervision consistent with standard operating procedures, state and local regulations in a safe, timely and cost effective manner. • The position performs work associated with liquid product handling of a variety of chemicals and petrochemicals, by way of barges, tank-to-tank transfers, tank car, and tank truck, and/or other work required within the terminal. • Performs both physical gauges and side gauge readings as required. • Performs heating functions of required products in terminal storage facilities and mode units as required. • Rail switching • Conducts spill clean up operations as required. • Performs housekeeping chores on operation activities, grounds and buildings. • Assists in both environmental services and maintenance as required. • Participates in company training programs and related testing. • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives. • Overtime is voluntary, though can be mandatory if there are no volunteers. • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards and procedures requirements. • Certain conditions of employment will be governed by the agreement between Kinder Morgan Liquid Terminals and the United Steel Workers union. Primary purpose:Provide product quality control through sampling and analytical testing the various commodities stored at a terminal facility. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Perform control charting and equipment calibration as required. • Customer reporting including analysis feedback reporting (SAP systems) • Manage sample retain and retention program. • Customer Quality Log development, record control and maintenance. • Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents. • Research/create testing programs for new products. • Perform routine cleaning/maintenance/repair on all lab equipment. • Order lab equipment and supplies as needed. • Coverage for other terminal lab technicians and personnel as necessary. • Other duties as assigned. Educational Requirements: • GED, high school diploma or college degree will be considered for this position • 1 to 3 years of terminal experience and some lab experience preferred Job Requirements: • Minumum three (3) years of work experience in the petrochemical industry or a refinery and one (1) to three (3) years of hands-on field experience sampling storage tanks and testing collected samples with automated lab equipment is preferred • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization are essential • At least 1 or more years of experience performing and detailed knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methodology • High level of concentration and very detail-oriented • Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, industrial hygiene and other industry regulations a major plus • Experience with handling hazardous liquid chemicals • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel • Must have good customer service skills • Superior work ethic and dependability • Excellent mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and percentages) are required • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions as outside work is mandatory year round • Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds • Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, goggles, rain gear, steel toe boots), and qualify to wear a full-face respirator • Mandatory drug screening in addition to passing a background check necessary for hire • Perform testing of customer commodities in accordance with approved methods utilizing laboratory testing apparatus or equipment and ASTM standards • Perform preventive maintenance of all laboratory equipment including prescribed standardization and calibration checks and adjustments • Determine and monitor line displacements and product cuts to ensure that product integrity is maintained in accordance with regulatory guidelines and product specifications • Obtain and test tank, line and pipeline samples in accordance with standard operating procedures • Interact with field operations and control room personnel to report testing results to assure quality control of customer commodities • Prepare and issue accurate laboratory reports and logs as required by customers and management • Maintain accurate database records utilizing standard computer software applications • Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotating shift and overtime as required, including holidays, nights and weekends • Shift schedule could change due to work load or more staffing • Willingness and ability to be on call to cover vacations, sick leave, short or long term, and any emergencies that might arise • Job requires working at other locations on weekends and night shifts • Assist outside inspection companies on where to obtain pipeline samples and escort them throughout the facilities • Assist customer representatives in order to have a double verification to ensure quality of their product Compensation: $30-35 Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
