Yes, Kohl's drug tests in some locations. While some employees state that they were not drug tested prior to employment, others claim it was required. The most common testing methods are mouth swab or urine tests.
Additionally, Kohl’s reserves the right to administer on-the-job drug tests if it suspects an employee of substance issues (e.g., slurred speech, smell of alcohol or cannabis, erratic or unusual behavior).
Kohl’s does not require employees to submit to random drug testing. Unfortunately, though, they state that you may have to make yourself available for drug testing during employment.
While they do not state what would cause them to request this drug test (most likely if there is suspicion of use), there is one scenario that will always result in drug testing.
You will be required to submit to a test for drugs and alcohol should an incident occur while you are on the job.
If you are involved in a work accident, they must test you to ensure that you were not working while impaired. Should this test come back positive for drugs or alcohol, you will likely lose your position.
You may also be required to submit to a drug test if you are accepting an internal promotion.

A mouth swab drug test also referred to as a saliva drug test or oral fluids drug test, is more immediate. They are easier to administer than urine drug tests and do not require you to leave the store location to submit.
These types of drug tests are also more difficult to tamper with as the person administering the test is within full view at all times.
With the mouth swab option, the test involves a swab of the inside of your cheek. Results can be ready within minutes.
Drugs are detectable in oral fluids for a shorter period than in urine. So, this test is used more often to determine recent use. Due to this restraint, this type of 0 is most common when there is suspicion of drug use or immediately following a work accident.
A mouth swab drug test will analyze the sample for the same substances. Both can also detect alcohol if necessary.
With the increase in the legalization of cannabis, the question of whether or not they will be testing for marijuana use is common. Generally speaking, if the state you are in has legalized marijuana use, then this will not count against you during drug testing.
