Sightline Hospitality is looking for a laundry assistant (full-time) for the soon-to-open Boutique Hotel in Moab, Utah. The hotel is completing a multimillion-dollar renovation of Motel 6 Moab into an advanced-design luxury boutique hotel aimed at outdoor and adventure-seeking guests who prefer a unique and authentic hospitality experience. The rooms are being completely renovated to a 4 star specification level. The lobby and pool area are being substantially improved and are being completely repositioned to include a full bar and café and activated indoor and outdoor common areas. Join a rare project with extraordinary people! Essential functions of the job: Receive dirty lines by bag, cart or ramp from floors. Sort all items by type, color, and soil grade. Inspect all bedding and record all damaged or stained items. Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers' guidelines. Make sure the necessary chemicals are added in the correct amounts before washing cycles. Fold clean sheets and store them as appropriate. Operate the clothes feeder, sheet folder, towel folder and table linens ironing machines. Report necessary repairs or unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Monitor and control supplies, and minimize waste within laundry facilities. Sort and record discarded clothing into categories. Report damage or loss of clothing to the supervisor. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. You can help with other tasks assigned to you. Complete shift checklists and assigned special projects. Be available to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Be thoroughly familiar with the hotel's emergency procedures and provide calm and reassuring assistance to guests and co-workers in the event of an emergency. Follow all company policies and procedures. Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and dangerous conditions. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times. Follow all company safety regulations, including proper handling of equipment to avoid injury to yourself and others. Attend all mandatory meetings as directed. To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed. Experience/Essential Requirements Graduated from high school or equivalent vocational training. Some laundry experience and the ability to speak some English is preferred. Desired skills/aptitudes: Communication skills are used when interacting with other employees and supervisors. Reading and writing skills and basic math skills are used when determining the amounts of chemicals to treat clothing and stains and recording appropriate weight. You must be punctual with regular and reliable assistance. It may be necessary to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Essential physical skills: Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds and pushing and/or pulling approximately 400 pounds Standing up and moving around the work area frequently Frequent handling of objects and equipment to maintain the facility Frequently crouching, bending, and kneeling Work frequently in high-temperature areas around heavy equipment Ability to push or pull a vacuum cleaner and wheeled carts weighing up to 100 pounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Answer incoming telephone calls, completing a lead form for all inquiries and assist guests with questions, changes and special requests. Ensure no leads are abandoned and all calls are returned promptly (generally within four hours). Communicate requests to appropriate departments. * Type all banquet event orders and convention resumes with appropriate cover letters. Distribute assignment sheets, room keys and beepers to designated staff. Maintain accurate records of assignments for security. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift. Conduct regular inventories of supplies and assist with purchasing decisions Check room attendant's closet for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness or mechanical problems. Inspect rooms cleaned by room attendants using designated checklist to ensure rooms are up to hotel standards and follow up with necessary corrections. Check vacant rooms, verify status and update status of discrepant rooms throughout shift as well as check DNR rooms for status. “Mark” dirty sheets of randomly selected assigned rooms and follow up to ensure attendants have changed sheets. Council when necessary. Inspect public areas, restrooms, meeting and office space for cleanliness utilizing designated checklist. Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to housekeeping. Contact engineering directly for urgent repairs. Accommodate guest requests for housekeeping items or additional supplies expediently and courteously. Follow up on delivery and return of all such items. Monitor and handle guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction. Provide feedback on staff performance to manager as well as report any disciplinary problems. Document pertinent information in departmental log book. Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up action necessary. Check PM reports for accuracy and completeness. Complete night counts in accordance with departmental standards. Manage staffing needs based upon business levels. Manage the receipt and distribution of deliveries of supplies, linens, etc. Effectively communicate with other departments throughout the shift Knowledgeable of hotel fire and emergency procedures. Check the working condition and cleanliness of laundry and dry cleaning machinery and equipment as well as monitor usage of chemicals and water to maximize consumption. Separate soiled linens, terry, etc. and bundle/weigh amounts of each. Sort all stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard. Maintain continuous inventory of items discarded. Make sure to remove all debris on floors after sorting. Place items in laundry machine by weight and add designated chemicals for specified time periods. Remove when done and inspect for cleanliness before placing in linen carts. Place items in dryer for specified time/temperature. Fold Laundry in an effective and timely manner to avoid wrinkling Remove lint and debris from dryer filters and change filters, maintain cleanliness throughout work area, remove trash, and breakdown/clean work areas/equipment upon conclusion of shift. Use designated chemicals/supplies to clean laundry room. Maintain cleanliness and organization of supply/storage closets and restock as necessary. Make up cribs and rollaway beds. Essential Experience/Aptitudes: Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding. Must have High school diploma or equivalent vocational training. 3-5 years' experience as hotel Room Attendant. Previous supervisory experience is desired.
