Kokua Nurses was founded in 1979 by Kathryn Daniels and had offices on Oahu and in Hilo.
Kokua, the agency, was born September 2, 1990 when two men moved in together in Tumwater and Kokua began providing Supported Living services.
In the early 1990’s, Washington State allotted funds to enable individuals with developmental disabilities to move out of state-run institutions and nursing homes.
The company also runs a case-management firm called Community Case Management Corp., started in 2001, and owns and operates Kulana Malama, a 30-bed facility for children requiring long-term and chronic care in Ewa.
