As a Sr Food Scientist (Grain & Dough), this role directly shapes the innovation pipeline, owning ideation through commercialization-not only to create novel bakery products, but to drive topline growth, define pipeline metrics, and deliver share/margin gains. The individual will serve as a catalyst for innovation across bakery channels and consumer segments, setting measurable growth targets (e.g. new product revenue or margin) and delivering to brand performance goals. Product & Process Development: Responsible for Grain & Dough projects in the Retail and Food Service businesses. Provide strategic leadership for the end to end innovation process, from consumer-insight-driven ideation through commercialization, with defined growth KPIs (e.g. percent of annual revenue from new launches, incremental margins, speed to market). Optimize formulations and processes for taste, texture, shelf-life, and cost effectiveness. Explore emerging ingredient technologies (e.g., enzymes, stabilizers, flavors) to enhance product performance and drive margin enhancement. Technical Leadership & Expertise: Serve as the technical resource for bakery product development. Partners with Procurement, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to validate, commission, and optimize raw materials, formulations, and manufacturing processes. Provide technical leadership and mentorship with a growth mindset-mentoring R&D teams on innovation methods, impact-focused experimentation, and commercial success factors. Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Ensure all formulations comply with FDA, FSMA, and relevant food safety regulations. Work closely with regulatory affairs to develop accurate ingredient declarations and compliant nutrition panels. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to verify product specifications and maintain consistency through production. Commercialization & Process Optimization: Lead plant trials and support production launches. Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to seamlessly transition formulations from lab-scale to commercial production. Partner with Operations teams to optimize production processes and meet/maintain product specifications. Cross Functional Collaboration & Industry Engagement: Collaborate with internal cross functional project teams: Culinary, Brand Management/Consumer Insights, Procurement, and Sales to align product and customer strategies with business objectives. Engage with supplier and industry partners to stay ahead of emerging ingredient technologies and global food trends. Position Summary The Technician II performs operational and technical work across multiple areas, ensuring safe and efficient execution of their job duties while promoting Pharmavite's Operating Values. Sets up and operates production equipment, leads problem-solving efforts, drives process changes, performs equipment maintenance and participates in cross-functional teams and projects while increasing their department capabilities. Responsibilities o Communicates and aligns to ensure smooth flow of correct materials into site production operations in accordance with production schedules. o Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices. o Identifies and performs adjustments to improve quality and production during operation to meet all requirements, including line speeds, daily production output, and required changeover times. o Leads root cause problem-solving with urgency and ensures team uses Lean Methodologies such as 5S, fixing defects, completion of Clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL), and change-over reductions. Follows up on corrective actions. o Leads and coordinates equipment changeovers and work assignments. o Sets up and operates equipment. o Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment by performing regular inspections and completing assigned preventive maintenance work orders. o Learns to perform complex repairs by assisting in diagnosing and repairing equipment. o Promotes a culture of safety within the team ensuring all members participate in required programs and attend scheduled departmental safety meetings. o Leads, mentors, and develops team members to meet or exceed daily shift Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enable an agile workforce that is cross trained on multiple pieces of equipment/processes and functions. o Possess strong problem-solving skills, and the technical knowledge to troubleshoot production matters related to quality and/or operational issues while meeting deadlines. o Maintains all required documentation including cleaning logs, maintenance logs, and production records. o Utilizes a continuous improvement mindset, identifying key losses to improve throughput and yield. o Ensures that respective areas and departments are audit ready at any time. o Performs other related duties as assigned to support business needs. Minimum Qualifications Education HS Diploma or equivalent education and experience/knowledge required. Certification Must have or complete PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks) certification training. Physical Requirements Stands and or walks for the full work shift, may have restricted flexibility to move from their stations unless relieved by others. May perform repetitive job duties during training and rotations depending on assignment. Intermittently lifts and or move loads unassisted of up to 40 pounds and over 40 pounds with the use of pallet jacks (manual or powered), two-person lift, or other mechanical aids. Pulls/pushes boxes of product on/offline and/or pallets using pallet jack, hoists etc. Manual dexterity to manipulate equipment controls, production containers on a production line, and hand tools to assemble/disassemble parts of equipment and address quality variations. Required to walk up and down stairs and rolling platform with handrails. Role may include bending and scooping large quantities of products from the container and dumping into hopper above the head. Environment Constant exposure to noise levels loud enough to require employees to wear hearing protection. Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort. Operating conditions may vary by department and areas. Employee is required to wear all PPE, i.e., protective eye wear, hearing protection, hair net, safety shoes, uniforms, etc. for assigned department. Specific Responsibilities: Actively participate in the plants Sika SAFE Program. Understand, comply, and regularly inspect the work area to ensure all safety policies and practices are followed and a high degree of industrial housekeeping is maintained at all times. Oversee and operate packaging equipment to ensure that all area specific functions conform to process and procedure specifications. Drive cultural change and initiatives which emphasize safety, communication, co-operation, development, teamwork, environmental compliance, quality, productivity and waste elimination. Perform inventory check of raw materials and packaging materials for daily production schedule. Oversee and operate mixing equipment to ensure that all area specific functions conform to process and procedure specifications. Ensure mixing equipment is running smoothly, within validated parameters, and in compliance with SOP's. Ensure mixing processes are carried out and documented within a high level of compliance including but not limited to order of addition, mixing times, and other designated set points. Performs line change overs and simple-to-moderate equipment adjustments and troubleshooting. Understand, comply, and ensure that packaged products meet quality standards of customers including but not limited to product weight tolerances, overall appearance, DOT Labeling, and batch/identification numbers. Uses PLC and observes flowmeters and pressure gauges, turn valves, and start pumps to transfer fluid chemicals to or from specified tanks and to processing areas. Guide, assist and train new and temporary employees. Demonstrates ability to use a computer and various computer programs including SAP and PLC programs. To execute other projects or activities to-be-determined as directed by Plant Leadership. Qualifications Qualifications/Experience: Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: 3+ year experience in an industrial environment/manufacturing environment. Special Requirements/Competencies: Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Must have good math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals and percentages. Must have the ability to develop process expertise in order to facilitate troubleshooting. Special Requirements/Competencies: Must be flexible & willing to work some overtime and be on-call for occasional weekends as scheduled. Must be self-directed, have good communication skills, and able to work alone. Must be willing to work the schedule.
