** This position requires 6+ months of training on a Domestic Assignment to San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA with some travel to other US locations such as Baltimore, MD and Jacksonville, FL. Final assignment location in Mayport, Florida. **
Initially, this position will work a 9/80 shift. As the program matures, the shifts may become 12-hour shifts that could include nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at the designated facility. There is no remote work available for this role. Outside of traveling for initial training, this position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
This position can be filled at either the Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer OR Senior Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Payloads Field Service Engineer:

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Maintenance -Principal Product Trainer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, FL. The role will support the Instructional System Design (ISD) for a new Weapon System's training system. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
To be considered, a candidate must have experience as a military tactical jet (F-35, F/A-18, E/A-18G, AV-8B, F-22, F-15, F-16) aircraft maintainer. The ideal candidate comes from a Naval Aviation (USN or USMC) maintenance background with experience at the Operational (O) Level and has achieved at least a Journeyman level of experience as an AD, AM, or AME rate. Successful candidates will serve as a Naval Aviation maintenance subject matter expert (SME) that will use their maintenance training and experience to support Instructional System Design (ISD) for the creation of a training system associated with an entirely new Weapon System. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking a 2026 Summer Intern in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will develop a system architecture using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques, develop models for current and future system designs, develop system and system element architectures, designs, and interface definitions while supporting necessary internal and external design reviews, and serve as the focal point for the development and communication of the system architecture for the various stakeholders including both internal and external customers. The successful candidate will perform system architecture design using SysML based tools, perform system functionality definition including system states and modes, define system design for software requirements/functional interfaces and mission planning features, and synthesize design characteristics into an implementable system architecture.
Additional activities include:
* Working with requirements management team to ensure accuracy of the subsystem element model within the overall system model and linking with the subsystem requirements.
* Coordination with the team for modelling and simulation scenarios, and predicted performance.
* Supporting system timelines and working with software and hardware teams.
* Documentation of system design and implementation for various use case scenarios.
* Conducting model based performance simulations to determine the impact of requirements changes on system performance/behaviors.

Basic Qualifications:
* Candidate must be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, physics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or similar
* Willingness to work onsite in a classified lab environment
* Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
* Candidate must have foundational proficiency in either Matlab, C++ or Python
Desired Skills:
* Candidate should be proficient in MATLAB or python and have foundational proficiency in C++
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
* Candidate should have demonstrated the ability to perform one or more of the following: AI/ML, computer vision, Image processing (IP) based on assignments, completed course work or professional experience:
* Experience developing and analyzing algorithms related to signal/image processing
* Develop and analyze algorithms such as computer vision, target detection, image enhancement, and image tracking.
* Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations

This position is responsible for performing specialized technical duties in the repair, maintenance, and installation of customer's fiber optic networks.
Duties and responsibilities
• Responds to emergency and non-emergency repair calls regarding all aspects of our customers OSP fiber optic network.
• Performs construction, splicing, distribution changes of OSP and ISP fiber optic cables.
• Performs tests on OSP and ISP networks to troubleshoot problems.
• Makes necessary repairs on the OSP and ISP facilities once problem is identified.
• Assures network is functioning properly before leaving customer site.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and notifies appropriate personnel when materials need to be ordered.
• Night shift work is required due to the nature of maintenance windows.
• This position will be subject to call outs to meet service requirements.
• Weekend and holiday work may be required as service demands dictate.
• The work consists of related technical duties and is considered complex.
• Fiber optic construction and splicing can be complex, and skills should be kept up to date.
• The purpose of this position is to perform specialized technical duties in the repair, maintenance, construction and splicing of our customers fiber optic networks.

The Ocala Operations is a multi-shift manufacturing facility that builds circuit cards, wiring harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies. The facility currently has over 1400 employees and provides products to six Missiles and Fire Control sites. Ocala specializes in both low volume high mix and high volume production that has a combination of automated processes as well as labor intensive manufacturing.
