KRONOS Worldwide, Inc. and its predecessors have been producing titanium dioxide pigments (TiO2) since 1916.
Its first chloride process plant was commissioned in the late 1970's, and it was the first commercial TiO2 plant in Continental Europe to utilize the chloride process technology.
1977 – Kronos Incorporated founded by MIT alum Mark Ain
1979 – Delivered industry’s first microprocessor-based time clock
But in 1989 NL organized its TiO2 operations under its majority-owned subsidiary, KRONOS Worldwide, Inc. and adopted the KRONOS brand name exclusively.
1995 – Established presence in Mexico Annual revenues exceeded $100 million
2005 – Aron Ain assumed role of CEO Reported 100th consecutive quarter of revenue growth and surpassed $500 million in revenue
2012 – CEO Aron Ain named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by E&Y Delivered Workforce Ready cloud human capital management product suite
2018 – Introduced WorkInspired, written by Kronos CEO Aron Ain Surpassed 35,000 customers worldwide
