POSITION SUMMARY: The employee is responsible for helping in the drilling and blasting, hauling and loading of shot rock to the primary crusher, knowledge and ability to operate crusher and to perform some maintenance of crushing system. Employee will also be asked to help and assist at the Rail Facility as needed to load rail cars, unload rail cars and transport lime from Plant to Rail if needed (CDL required). RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Heavy Equipment Operation Safe operation of mobile equipment Abide by all company policies and procedures Abide by all State and Federal laws Preventive Maintenance on Equipment Perform pre-shift inspection on equipment prior to operation Fuel equipment as needed and properly log all fuel required Report or fix all items found during pre-shift inspection Perform preventive maintenance on truck when needed, with preventive maintenance being: Change oil and check fluids Lubricate Change filters Tire maintenance Quarry Operations Safe operation of the crushing/screening/conveying system Perform routine maintenance both preventive and corrective on quarry equipment Maintain housekeeping to support crushing system such as: Painting and shoveling of catwalks/handrails Replacing idlers Tracking belts Splicing belts Changing out Screen Quality Control Follow directions and dump mined ore in designated location as directed Gathering of drill shaving samples, rail car samples, and other belt samples from the crushing system. Safety Attend scheduled safety meetings Maintain a clean and safe work environment Complete Pre-shift inspections on any assigned Heavy Equipment and submit to Plant Operator Promote safety among co-workers Follow all safety policies and procedures ATTRIBUTES: Fulfill all requirements and possess ability to pass back ground check for ATF Explosives license. THE ROLE The Heavy Equipment Operator II position is a full-time, hourly position and is located at our Environmental Waste Facility in Lost Hills. Heavy equipment will primarily include front-end loaders, screens, and conveyors. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES * Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or fatalities * Adjust windrows or piles by turning, watering, or covering to maintain proper biological activity * Manage aeration systems and blowers * Load and unload material from trucks, stockpiles, or conveyors * Perform extensive record keeping for compost operation * Collect and record compost samples and temperature/moisture readings as required * Assist with landfill equipment operation as needed * Conduct daily safety inspections and basic maintenance checks * Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required * Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored * Advise the Superintendent of any requirements for maintenance or repairs * Participate in routine maintenance * Practice workplace safety * Perform other related duties PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS * Environmental conditions - Must be able to work outdoors year-round in varying weather, including extreme heat and cold.
