Position Summary:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with company objectives to provide sustainable, cost-effective, and reliable materials and services to Kuraray's businesses. The Procurement Specialist role involves identifying and qualifying new suppliers that meet Kuraray's requirements, while continuously developing market intelligence to inform top-tier strategies. The Procurement Specialist will also represent Kuraray in negotiations and work closely with diverse business teams to implement sourcing programs and strategies enabled by third-party goods and services. The Procurement Specialist also includes overseeing supplier performance, managing contracts, and driving process improvements that contribute to long-term cost savings and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Planning
Develop and implement sourcing strategies that drive continuous improvement, service excellence, and sustainable cost savings.
Conduct market analysis to stay informed on trends, cost drivers, and labor rates that may impact sourcing decisions.
Provide early procurement involvement in key projects to ensure sourcing considerations are embedded from the start.
Use planning systems and protocols to support long-term procurement goals.
Identify opportunities for innovation and process optimization across procurement activities.
Supplier Relationship & Contract Management
Lead the selection, evaluation, and onboarding of suppliers based on quality, cost, service, compliance, and capability.
Manage key supplier relationships to ensure alignment with business needs and performance expectations.
Negotiate favorable terms and manage contract lifecycles, including post-award activities, purchase orders, and ongoing vendor relations.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, service, safety, and supply disruptions.
Address and mitigate complex supplier incidents to maintain strong supplier performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with supply chain, operations, logistics, and other internal teams to ensure procurement strategies support business goals.
Collaborate with the Global Raw Materials Procurement team to align local strategies with global sourcing initiatives.
Serve as a key liaison to internal stakeholders at all levels, providing regular updates on procurement initiatives and outcomes.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Identify inefficiencies in procurement systems, processes, or procedures and lead improvement initiatives using change management best practices.
Continuously assess and refine procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to audit, compliance, and regulatory standards, reporting any deviations or risks appropriately.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Conduct research and data analysis to inform procurement strategies and decision-making.
Prepare, organize, and present procurement reports, including metrics, accomplishments, and special project summaries.
Track and report on key performance indicators and progress toward procurement goals.
Project Management
Manage multiple concurrent procurement projects, ensuring priorities are clearly defined and timelines are met.
Apply structured project management approaches to deliver consistent results across initiatives.
People Leadership
Directly manage and mentor a direct report, fostering their growth and development.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Sourcing
Minimum of 3-5 years of procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management
Proven track record of successful negotiations and supplier management.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills, with experience in multicultural and international environments.
Proficiency in SAP or related system, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Experience with Business Queries, contract management and data analysis to inform decision-making.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Food Scientist to drive the growth of EVAL and PLANTIC across the Americas within our Technical Service & Development (TS&D) organization. This hybrid role integrates food science, packaging, and market development expertise. The Food Scientist will engage with brand owners to showcase the sustainable advantages of EVAL and PLANTIC, guiding them through the evaluation process to commercialization in innovative food packaging or other industrial applications. Success in this role requires a strong foundation in materials and polymer processing, flexible packaging structure development, food stability testing, and the ability to assess packaging performance-particularly in meeting or exceeding brand expectations for recyclable solutions compared to traditional, non-recyclable high-performance laminates. The primary objective is to identify new market opportunities, support product launches, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance innovation, sustainability, and growth, with a strong emphasis on food packaging.
Responsibilities:
Food Science & Innovation
* Design food stability experiments using EVAL and PLANTIC packaging technologies to demonstrate benefits compared to traditional packaging
* Apply food science expertise to evaluate product aging and redesign packaging to optimize shelf-life performance and/or quality preservation.
* Report results of the food stability tests as tools for market development when facing customers or brand owners.
* Generate application data, technical reports, and training materials for customers and internal stakeholders
Market & Business Development
* Research global market trends, consumer demands, benchmark studies, recycling standards, and sustainability drivers.
* Support new product introductions with market analysis and application demonstrations in the form of customer presentations.
* Identify new market opportunities for EVAL and PLANTIC in food and pharma packaging as well as in industrial applications. The focus of this role is food packaging.
* Work closely with TS&D to develop a solution, with Sales to close opportunities, and with Marketing Communication teams to publish successes.
* Collaborate with the value chain (brand owners, converters, processors, machine and resins suppliers, as well as food manufacturers) to develop case studies demonstrating the value proposition of EVAL and PLANTIC.
* Train engineers and technical service personnel on proper testing methodologies, data interpretation, and application best practices
Technical and Environmental Support
* Grow awareness of EVAL and Plantic products by representing the company in industry associations, positioning them as strong solutions towards the circular economy.
* Collaborate with the marketing communications team to create appropriate publications, targeted advertising, and other promotional tactics to position EVAL as the barrier leader in all segments.
* Coordinate the approvals of such public communications locally with the KAI EVAL leadership team and globally with the corresponding counterparts in Kuraray Japan.
* Conduct extrusion trials on pilot scale equipment to process EVOH in the form of film or cast samples
* Execute manual or coordinate automatic form, seal, and fill packaging to test the performance of the elucidated prototypes.
* Interpretation of results regarding oxygen and moisture barrier, mechanical properties, and sealing curves.
* Generate application data, technical reports, and training materials for customers and internal stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
* Travel (20%) to customer and brand owner sites, conferences, and international meetings in North and South America.
* Present technical findings, trial outcomes, and market insights to internal and external stakeholders.
* Lead projects through influence, collaborating with cross-functional multicultural teams including R&D, Sales, Marketing, and technical Teams to drive commercialization.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or Food Technology required. Degrees in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering will be considered with relevant food packaging experience
* Minimum of 3 years experience in food science or food applications sectors
* Knowledge of plastic materials, converting processes (extrusion, lamination, printing), and food science.

Position Summary:
The Electrical Maintenance & Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the plant's electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Provide day-to-day technical support to resolve electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues impacting plant operations.
Troubleshoot failures involving motors, drives, MCCs, transformers, sensors, and control systems.
Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation assets.
Support turnaround and maintenance planning by defining scopes, reviewing job plans, and providing field engineering support.
Electrical & Instrumentation Systems
Design, specify, and oversee installation or upgrades of electrical and instrumentation systems including control valves, transmitters, analyzers, interlocks, 480VAC starters, 120VAC/24VDC circuits, and VFDs.
Review and update I&E drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams.
Manage contractors for electrical and instrumentation projects; ensure work meets codes, standards, and plant specifications.
Support and maintain compliance with electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, ISA).
Process Control / DCS Support (Yokogawa Preferred)
Provide first-level troubleshooting and maintenance of DCS systems and related field instrumentation.
Configure and maintain control loops, interlocks, signal inputs/outputs, and communication protocols (Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus, wireless).
Coordinate system updates, backups, and minor modifications to improve process reliability and operability.
Collaborate with corporate or third-party specialists for major system changes and upgrades.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Analyze equipment performance data to identify reliability risks and develop improvement plans.
Apply reliability tools such as FMEA, RCM, and life-cycle analysis to optimize asset performance.
Support capital projects by providing technical input to design, commissioning, and maintenance readiness.
Participate in cost-benefit analyses and recommend solutions to enhance uptime and reduce maintenance costs.
Leadership & Collaboration
Act as the primary technical advisor and functional lead for all I&E personnel in Maintenance.
Collaborate with Operations to improve safety, yield, and overall plant performance.
Support Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives including MOC, PHA participation, and incident investigations.
Deliver training and share best practices to strengthen the site's maintenance and reliability culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Chemical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of instrumentation and electrical maintenance experience in a chemical, refining, or industrial manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of Yokogawa DCS (other platforms such as DeltaV, Honeywell, or ABB a plus)..
Knowledge of discreet, continuous, and sequential control, loop tuning, adaptive control, and feed-forward control modeling.
Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment and process issues.

Responsibilities:
Food Science & Innovation
Design food stability experiments using EVAL and PLANTIC packaging technologies to demonstrate benefits compared to traditional packaging
Apply food science expertise to evaluate product aging and redesign packaging to optimize shelf-life performance and/or quality preservation.
Report results of the food stability tests as tools for market development when facing customers or brand owners.
Generate application data, technical reports, and training materials for customers and internal stakeholders
Market & Business Development
Research global market trends, consumer demands, benchmark studies, recycling standards, and sustainability drivers.
Support new product introductions with market analysis and application demonstrations in the form of customer presentations.
Identify new market opportunities for EVAL and PLANTIC in food and pharma packaging as well as in industrial applications. The focus of this role is food packaging.
Work closely with TS&D to develop a solution, with Sales to close opportunities, and with Marketing Communication teams to publish successes.
Collaborate with the value chain (brand owners, converters, processors, machine and resins suppliers, as well as food manufacturers) to develop case studies demonstrating the value proposition of EVAL and PLANTIC.
Train engineers and technical service personnel on proper testing methodologies, data interpretation, and application best practices
Technical and Environmental Support
Grow awareness of EVAL and Plantic products by representing the company in industry associations, positioning them as strong solutions towards the circular economy.
Collaborate with the marketing communications team to create appropriate publications, targeted advertising, and other promotional tactics to position EVAL as the barrier leader in all segments.
Coordinate the approvals of such public communications locally with the KAI EVAL leadership team and globally with the corresponding counterparts in Kuraray Japan.
Conduct extrusion trials on pilot scale equipment to process EVOH in the form of film or cast samples
Execute manual or coordinate automatic form, seal, and fill packaging to test the performance of the elucidated prototypes.
Interpretation of results regarding oxygen and moisture barrier, mechanical properties, and sealing curves.
Generate application data, technical reports, and training materials for customers and internal stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Travel (20%) to customer and brand owner sites, conferences, and international meetings in North and South America.
Present technical findings, trial outcomes, and market insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Lead projects through influence, collaborating with cross-functional multicultural teams including R&D, Sales, Marketing, and technical Teams to drive commercialization.
Contribute to product innovation, circular economy, and sustainability initiatives.
Use data analysis tools to evaluate product performance, market impact, and customer or brand owner ROI.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or Food Technology required. Degrees in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering will be considered with relevant food packaging experience
Minimum of 3 years experience in food science or food applications sectors
Knowledge of plastic materials, converting processes (extrusion, lamination, printing), and food science.
Experience with brand owners, converters, technical sales and/or technical marketing roles.
Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and customer-facing abilities.
Innovative mindset with adaptability to diverse working environments
Capable to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
