Location: 4300 Brenner Dr, Kansas City, KS Position Summary The Human Resources Manager brings strong expertise across all core HR functions, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and regulatory compliance. Working under limited supervision of the Director of Human Resources, this role plays a key part in guiding leaders through performance management, investigations, and employee relations matters while ensuring compliance with KVC policies and employment law. This HR Manager will be supporting a 24/7 psychiatric residential treatment facility for children and youth, requiring sound judgment, flexibility, and the ability to effectively partner with leaders in a dynamic, around-the-clock care environment. The role demands professionalism, discretion, and the ability to build rapport and trust at all levels of staff and leadership. Additionally, the HR Manager represents KVC in the community through recruiting efforts and assists with the development and delivery of staff training initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead and support a positive new hire experience, including onboarding and orientation Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations, disciplinary actions, investigations, suspensions, and terminations Demonstrate working knowledge of employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, COBRA, and FMLA Ensure compliance with employment laws, documentation requirements, and regulatory updates Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining clear, user-friendly job descriptions and templates Support recruitment efforts, including career fairs, classroom presentations, and other recruiting initiatives Utilize HRIS systems to manage employee profiles, user access, recruitment databases, and standard reporting Assist with the development and delivery of supervisory and staff training programs Support workers' compensation processes, reporting, and training as needed Participate in and support unemployment hearings when required Maintain the highest level of confidentiality for employee, child, and family information Education & Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a related field Minimum of five years of related HR experience and/or training Intermediate proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products Certifications & Requirements Valid driver's license Valid auto insurance PHR or SPHR certification preferred If you are a collaborative HR professional who values integrity, accountability, and making a difference in the lives of others, we invite you to join KVC and help shape a workplace where employees can thrive.
