Doctor Kazuo Inamori helped co-found Kyocera in 1959 as Kyoto Ceramic Company, Limited.
The firm eventually became “Kyocera”, adopting this name in 1982.
Released in 1992, Kyocera’s first ECOSYS model, the FS-1500, was able to print 300,000 pages with only toner replacement necessary.
A later version developed in 1997 was the first printer in the world to win Germany’s Blue Angel eco-label designation.
Kyocera gained a prominent presence within the photocopying industry when it obtained ownership of the Mita Industrial Company in January, 2000.
