Are you looking for a career to help people but do not have a a degree in behavioral health. Lived experience is valuable to us as we are looking for Peer Support Specialists. A qualified candidate will have personal experience in receiving behavioral health services, have successfully navigated through the behavioral health system, and is ready to help other on their personal journey .
The Peer Support position is a full time position which will require some evening hours. Experience working with severely mentally ill adults and the adult system of care is required. The Peer Support position serves as a bridge to ongoing services by coordinating and monitoring RBHA/Community based resources and facilitates delivery of these necessary services and support. Acts as a consumer advocate, assists consumers in the ISP process, assists in crisis intervention and outreach/engagement. The goal is to provide individuals who are voluntary and able to give informed consent, assistance in accessing services.
What you'll provide:
Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree in the related behavioral healthcare field or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience working with severely mentally ill adults and the adult system of care is required.
Peer Support Certification preferred.
Must be a recipient or have received services through the community behavioral health system.
Must have the ability and willingness to share their experience of receiving behavioral health services.
Must have a valid AZ driver's license with no major infractions in the past three years.
Must have regular access to reliable transportation.
Must have a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) Diff per hour available.
Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.

Utilizing best practices in crisis intervention, the BHU Peer Support Specialist responds to and supports individuals and families in crisis.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* GED/High school diploma with a minimum of 1.5 years of behavioral health experience, or-
* A bachelor's degree (not in the field of behavioral health) and 1 year of behavioral health experience, or

Promotes a recovery based approach to members who have recently experienced a crisis episode. Emphasizes hope, respect, self-direction and empowerment by providing peer support, education on community resources and other support and rehabilitation services, to aid in members' recovery from mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Increases and strengthens coping skills within 45 days to help prevent re-admission to hospital. Guidance and direction is provided by the Sr. Community Program Director and the Chief Clinical Officer.
Essential Duties
· Understands PACT role in the community and inpatient settings.
· Attempts contact with-in 24 hours of receiving referral in order to start PACT process in bridging from crisis episode to community supportive services.
· Provides peer support to member in an inpatient setting, coordinating with hospital inpatient staff, and assists in discharge planning.
· Provide support and rehabilitative services to achieve members' goals through the use of one-to-one supportive services.
· Assist member with enrolling in an Intake Agency if needed, coordinates with Intake Agency to ensure effective service delivery, and completes ART meetings.
· Makes sure member attends follow up doctor's appointments including the provision of transport if needed, utilizing agency vehicle.
· Completes Crisis and Wellness plan with member as a tool to help member utilize community supports and resources.
· Once services are completed, ensures and facilitates an effective transition back to Intake Agency.
· Relates own recovery process in a positive and supportive manner through coaching, role modeling and mentoring in order to establish or strengthen member's recovery.
· Assist members in articulating personal goals for recovery and works with the member and their treatment team to determine the steps needed to achieve these goals.
· Works with member to navigate and use community resources in an effective manner.
· Supports safety of member's living environment (personal safety, food supply, utilities and appliances working, adequacy of furnishings, and lack of fire hazards).
· Provides instruction in activities of daily living (nutrition, meal planning, shopping, and meal preparation; budgeting; home cleaning and organization; personal grooming and laundry) if needed.
· Communicates with clinical team regarding members' level of independent functioning and current levels of support provided.
· Advocates for members, as needed, to ensure delivery of necessary services.
· Completes documentation for behavioral health record in accordance with agency and funding source requirements.
· Ensure compliance with and support of Executive directives, Agency contracts and established policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education or equivalency:
Requires graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants or Valleywise Health approved course AND:
* A bachelor's degree in a field related to Behavioral Health, or any other bachelor's degree, and one (1) year of full-time experience working in an environment that prepares the candidate for the responsibilities of this role, or
* Any associate degree and two (2) years of full-time experience working in an environment that prepares the candidate for the responsibilities of this role, or

What you'll do:
Are you looking for a career to help people but do not have a degree in behavioral health? Lived experience is valuable to us as we are looking for a Peer Support Specialist. A qualified candidate will have personal experience in receiving behavioral health services, have successfully navigated through the behavioral health system, and is ready to help others on their personal journey.
The primary responsibilities of the Peer Support Specialist position are to model the skills necessary to maneuver within the behavioral health system and other community programs, serving as a system guide and advocate. Provide direct support to the individual served and act as an active member of the Adult Recovery Team.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist the individual served in developing and implementing a self-directed recovery plan, by sharing your own experience, providing support, teaching self-management techniques and reassurance. Follow up and assist with the needs identified in the plan.
Locate and orient the individual served to additional informal supports available in the community and help get them connected. Provide assistance in completing applications for community resources as needed. Participate with team members and agency staff in identifying and removing barriers within the behavioral health system. Provide strengths-based, community-based and culturally competent services for individuals served.
Deliver 40 hours of work per week, with a goal of 30 hours direct client contact, which includes case management as needed. Productivity standards established at a minimum of once a year and as needed due to contract changes. Evening and weekend hours may be required to accommodate the schedules of individuals served. Attend meetings and trainings as requested. Attend regular scheduled weekly supervision. Seek out additional supervision as needed. Complete all tasks agreed upon by timelines given.
Develop and collaborate with an extensive network of community based and RHBA resources. The Peer Support person must know how to access various social/behavioral health community based services that can include but is not limited to: food, clothing, support services, and crisis stabilization/transition services. This can also include making necessary appointments, assisting with scheduling or arranging SMI evaluations when applicable.
Produce complete, timely, thorough, quality clinical documentation of all services rendered, both billable and non-billable, as required. The documentation must include sufficient information about the activity being documented and the client's participation in, and response to, the activity.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform those assignments agreed to in the team meeting and defined in , and provide on-going support by being there to listen or help them in communicating what is and isn't working. Also at the individuals request and when appropriate, meet with system staff and supervisors to continuously improve quality of processes.
Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships and effective ongoing communication with all referring organizations, behavioral health clients, parole officers, case managers, service coordinators and school personnel.
Participate in identifying training needs of Peer Support Specialists and co-workers in applying the Arizona Recovery model.
Position requires driving of company van and/or personal vehicle. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license at all times.
If driving while on agency time or on agency business, a valid Arizona driver license and appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT - SPC's liability insurance carrier is required. At time of hire, a 3-year state driving record with no major infractions or excessive driving violations/tickets is required.
Recommend to Clinical Coordinator or Manager changes that would improve service delivery.
Participate in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.
