La Habra Community Center company history timeline

1839

The year was 1839, and the name referred to the "pass through the hills," the natural pass to the north first discovered by Spanish explorers in 1769.

1896

The community was founded in 1896 and named "La Habra" when a United States Post Office was started in the corner store.

1912

In 1912, the Standard Oil Company established the Coyote Hills District and built a pipeline to El Segundo the same year.

1914

In 1914, F.R. Aldrich represented La Habra at the Orange County Associated Chamber of Commerce, making this our first official representation in that body.

1916

In 1916, a Merchants and Manufacturers Association formed in La Habra with Doctor Frank Coltrin as its president and Henry Price as Secretary.

1925

The City was incorporated under general law on January 20, 1925, with a population of 3,000.

1926

The Police Force was organized in 1926, and employed a Chief, Traffic Officer and Patrolman.

1928

By 1928, the City bore the distinction of being the largest avocado center in Southern California.

1947

La Habra is home to many points of interest, including the La Habra Children's Museum, which inspires and educates children, and the La Habra Host Lions Club Corn Festival, an annual event that has been celebrated since 1947.

1977

A resource in the Southern California community since 1977, The Children’s Museum at La Habra is an award winning, non-profit public museum that provides unique, hands-on educational and cultural experiences to young children ages 2 to 8.

1995

He served with Santa Ana PD for more than a year before transferring to La Habra PD in 1995.

2007

Rubalcava, in July 2007, received the lifesaving medal after performing the Heimlich on a man choking on a piece of meat at a restaurant in the 2600 block of La Habra Boulevard.

2010

When he and his partner arrived the night of April 30, 2010, they found a toddler lying on the floor, his panicked parents hovering above him.

2012

In May 2012, Rubalcava also was one of five officers who helped pull a man from a U-Haul truck after the man suffered a heart attack and crashed the large truck into a house.

2015

Then five years later, in February 2015, Rubalcava helped save another man who suffered a heart attack.
