1984

United Vacations, established in 1984, offered trips to Hawaii, the Orient, Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean, as well as a number of United States destinations.

1986

The two subsidiaries were merged in 1986, becoming Funway Holidays Funjet.

1990

It added United Airlines as a partner in 1990, taking over the back office operations for the airline's vacation program, handling reservations.

1992

In the meantime, Funway Holidays International was established in 1992, a London service office was opened, and Funjet began providing service to Europe.

1995

By the end of 1995 Mark Travel had annual passenger volumes in the 1.5 million range, and sales volume exceeded $500 million.

1996

Mountain Vacations, a Denver-based ski operator, was acquired in 1996.

1998

In 1998 it bought Hamilton, Miller, Hudson & Fayne Corp., a Detroit-based charter operator, and Albuquerque-based Blue Sky Tours.

Another important development in 1998 was Mark Travel's international subsidiary establishing inbound programs to the United States from more than 30 other countries.

2001

After losing more than $100 million in three years, Sun Country suspended all scheduled flights in December 2001 and reverted to charter service only, leading to mass layoffs.

In the early months of 2001 Mark Travel continued to add to its stable of brands, acquiring three businesses from Dallas-based Sammons Enterprises.

2002

Ben joined La Macchia Group in 2002 and has since led the company’s efforts in the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and real estate procurement to benefit its clients.

2002 Bankrupt Sun Country is sold.

2004

Bill La Macchia also turned over the presidency of Funjet to Ray Snisky in 2004.

2009

In 2009, LaMacchia Travel was purchased by the current owners, Tom and Monica Karnes.

2015

Five years down the road, in 2015, LovinAway became the first new company to be introduced by Tom and Monica.

2020

In the late end of 2020, LaMacchia Jet Stream was established and became the third enterprise in the LaMacchia Travel family.
