Responsibilities
• Prepare for patient appointments by reviewing patient EHR records prior to appointment; this includes checking updates for recent test results, lab results, referral updates, and needed services
• Maintain exam rooms according to protocols: clean rooms between patients in compliance with infection control standards and ensure all equipment and supplies are prepared
• Provides initial medical screening including: greeting patients and directing them to appropriate exam room. Takes weight, height, temperature, blood pressure, and basic medical history; accurately documents in medical chart
• Alerts provider when patient is ready to be seen; if provider is unavailable, maintains communication with patient keeping them informed of the status of the provider
• Assists provider or nurse upon request during examination of patient, operating with the MA Scope of Practice; practices universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols; facilitates communication between the provider(s) and patient as needed, including translation as appropriate
• Performs clerical duties including but not limited to: answering phones, checking and responding to voicemails, completing forms, typing, faxing, and scanning patient documents into the EHR in a timely manner.
• Provides back-up support as needed; accepts floating assignments to other departments as needed and assigned
• Covers check-out duties when the actual check-out team is unavailable
• Trains for level II and possibly level III MA duties
• Performs/Administers and charts all treatments, procedures, specimen collections (urine, sputum, and throat swabs) and injections within the MA Scope of Practice
• Adheres to all infection control policies and procedures, following organization sterilization and high-level disinfection processes
• Follow and adhere to the approved MA EHR workflows
• Assist nurse and physicians as needed

* Monitor the system for problems and identify and implement corrective and preventive measures.
* Understand the overall finance/accounting setup of Workday, including overall functional usage of Workday.
* Perform Workday administrative functions including business process and tenant configuration. Monitor and troubleshoot integrations and BPs supporting finance processes, determine root cause, and implement solutions.
* Understand Workday security including adjusting domains and security groups. Maintain the roles (for all business functional areas) related to security groups; this includes working with functional areas to assign and change roles depending on job function.

Location & Travel Expectations
This role will primarily support outreach efforts based out of Escondido or El Cajon, depending on operational needs. Interns must be comfortable traveling to outreach events throughout San Diego county, including community partner locations, health fairs, and off-site events. Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel are essential for this role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have completed the UCSD Community Health Worker program
Bilingual preferred (Arabic, Spanish, Pashto, or Persian)

I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner performs duties normally assigned in the general practice of ambulatory family medicine.
II. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides all patient care services as outlined in medical protocols under the supervision of the Medical Director or an M.D. designated by the Medical Director.
2. Provides direct diagnostic and therapeutic care including initial and follow-up visits to patients who may be seen for a variety of reasons.
3. Provides direct patient care including history taking, physical examination, assessment, health education and counseling, prescribing, and routine procedures.
4. Consults with supervising physician on non-routine matters.
5. Refers patients for M.D. evaluation as outlined in protocols.
6. Participates on Medical Quality review committee and in required audits.
7. Maintains close liaison with and makes referrals to specialists as necessary and approved by the Medical Director.
8. Actively seeks educational materials for patient use that meet standards of accuracy, quality and appropriateness.
9. Performs other related duties as may be required by the Medical Director or Administrative supervisor.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current licensure in State of California as a Registered Nurse and satisfactory completion of an accredited training program.
2. California Board Certification or Board Eligible as a Nurse Practitioner.
3. Prior experience in an outpatient setting.
4. Current CPR certification.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs and delegates triage to maximize patient access while assuring smooth and efficient patient flow.
Participates in quality assurance activities of the Clinic.
Instructs and educates patients on health care issues as requested by Providers.
Prepares and administers medications as ordered
Responsible for ordering and maintaining an adequate inventory of medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
Organizes supplies and pharmaceuticals to assure compliance with State regulations and Provider need.
Provides telephone and written follow-up to all Clinic patients with abnormal test results, in accordance with clinical protocols, to assure continuity of care.
Directs staff performing laboratory testing to assure efficient, safe and reliable testing procedures are followed
Assist in preparing Health Center for audits and inspections.
Maintains a referral network of health care providers/agencies that can be used for Imperial Beach Health Center patients whose health care needs cannot be met by the Clinic
III. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License.
2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
3. Knowledge of community nursing preferred.
4. Five years experience in an outpatient medical facility.
5. Supervisory experience and/or training preferred.
6. Possess and maintain a CPR card specific to their job duties.
