Human Resource Analyst
The HR Analyst reports to the Director of the University Laboratory School and is responsible for providing comprehensive support for administrators, faculty, and staff at the University Laboratory School and the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool within the College of Human Sciences and Education. These responsibilities include working closely with the Director in managing all human resource services between the two precollege schools. Because Workday is a complex, sophisticated system, this position requires a very high level of confidentiality, advanced technical knowledge, attention to detail, strategic thinking, and independent decision making.
20% Independently process full range of complex personnel and payroll actions needed to complete appointments, merit increases, promotions, transfers, separations, etc., for over 250 academic, professional, part-time, graduate assistant, and student employees; monitor each transaction from start to completion, ensuring compliance with LSU, state, and federal policies.
20% In collaboration with LSU HRM, work closely with Director and school administrative personnel to identify staffing and employment needs in each unit; develop strategic staffing/HR plans to address current and future needs, identifying time-frames and resources needed to ensure the completion of all searches, appointments, and other transactions.
20% Coordinate with units across campus to complete HR transactions on behalf of employees performing work outside of their home departments; Interpret and disseminate policies and procedures related to assigned areas; Orient new employees to CHSE policy and procedures; provide induction documents to new employees, providing guidance and a general overview of each document; follow up to ensure new employee completes all required forms in a timely manner.
20% Independently troubleshoot issues in Workday system; correct problems, train employees; Review position descriptions for accuracy of organizational information. Contact employees, supervisors, managers, etc. to elicit corrections or resolve minor conflicts in information presented; Participate/assist in salary surveys and other research needed to support requests for special pay actions; Serve as HCM liaison between CHSE and LSU HRM for all human resource inquiries; Coordinate the "on-boarding" of new hires, including but not limited to: set-up of LSU ID and email account.
10% Coordinate all logistics related to employee searches, from initiating the search to final offer letters; in doing so, will work closely with school administrative personnel; Maintain constant communication with the school administrative personnel to ensure all constituents are kept informed of deadlines, timelines, and process history; Collect and compile statistical data required to prepare reports.
10% Participate with the administrative staff in the formulation of broad policies and decisions in areas such as staff utilization, and human resource management policy and procedures; Compute routine pay changes; May compute service time of employees as required. Verify accuracy of information and makes needed corrections; Work collaboratively with schools prior to the start of each academic school year to ensure all employees will be appointed accurately and in a timely manner. Gather information about patient's presenting complaint and relay to emergency staff. Retrieve and organize medical records from client service and referral email.
20% - Assists technicians with upkeep and input of charges for patients within the hospital; posting, collecting, and billing; communication with clients; collections--reviews receivables when checking clients in and ensuring late balances are collected prior to service. Verify appropriate documents are signed and deposits are collected upon intaking the patient and bill is paid prior to patient leaving. Check out clients at the time of discharge, collect deposits on inpatient cases.

Job Responsibilities:
30% Lead, supervise, & manage the small animal ICU and ER nursing staff. To include full-time, part-time, & student employees. Maintain a staff schedule that ensures appropriate technical staff coverage, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, weekends, emergency closures, & coverage of requested leave. Work with the Director of Nursing to recruit, interview, hire, & train new staff as well as conduct performance reviews & planning sessions with current staff. Hold staff accountable, documenting coaching conversations & following through with disciplinary write-ups as recommended by HRM. Work with clinical staff to ensure a cohesive relationship between technicians & clinicians. Provide orientation & training to students, technicians & house officers. Manage controlled drug audits. Provide guidance & support to Small Animal ICU and ER lead workers.
30% Provide technical veterinary support to faculty, house officers, technicians, and students throughout the small animal hospital, particularly services who have patients admitted to the SAICU by performing and teaching: Setting appointments, admitting patients, providing critical patient care, triaging/responding to emergencies. Providing patient care and case management including hourly checks and treatments, procedure set up and clean up following. Safely restraining patients. Ensuring professional interaction with clients and proper communication and the receiving of information. Monitoring patients throughout the Small Animal ICU and wards, maintaining professional medical records, and capturing patient charges. Aid in generating estimates. Oversee procedures and treatments performed by veterinary students and ensure safety and accuracy.
20% Provide technical veterinary support to faculty, house officers, technicians, and students in a lab setting by performing and teaching/instructing: a variety of procedures such as bandages, sample collections, venipuncture, medication administration, blood transfusion, ultrasound, IVC placement, naso-gastric intubation, etc. Oversee procedures and treatments performed by veterinary students, technicians, and house officers, ensuring safety and accuracy.
15% Be an active member of the Small Animal ICU and ER staff as essential personnel in any emergency response. Provide coverage on weekends, holidays, and during emergency closures. Provide emergency on-call coverage.

Position description: Provide broad technical research and management support for the LSU AgCenter Central Station Horse and Sheep/Goat Units. Requires knowledge of research procedures and philosophy, and practical application in a field research setting. Specific responsibilities will include day-to-day management of horses, goats and sheep, which supports teaching, research, and extension functions for the School of Animal Sciences. Duties include animal health care and biosecurity, research data collection, production records, animal inventory maintenance, and related duties. Responsibilities also include pasture management, infrastructure maintenance, farm equipment maintenance and repair, general budget management, and supervision of two full-time employees and numerous part-time student workers. This position reports to the Resident Director of Central Research Station administratively but works closely with faculty and the administrative head of the School of Animal Sciences with respect to teaching, research, and extension programs. This position will also be expected to interact with, assist, and support Animal Science Department graduate students, the AgCenter Institutional Veterinarian, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, and with any other departmental personnel conducting research or teaching activities at this location. The successful candidate will also assist in lectures within their area of expertise and oversee laboratories taught at the Horse and Sheep/Goat units.
Qualification Requirements: Baccalaureate and/or Master's degree in Animal Science or closely related field. Knowledge and experience in working in an agricultural research setting dealing with animal production and a working knowledge of farming practices, including pesticide applications and operation of farm machine1y is highly desirable. Desire practical experience in managing animal herds (horses, goats, sheep) and organizational skills to maintain records and assist in data collection; computer skills are required.
