Commissioned Driver Helper - (Get on track to earning your CDL!) Labatt Food Service, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas is the tenth largest foodservice distributor in the nation. We operate in a high-intensity, high-transaction logistics environment, supplying 14,000 items to food-away-from-home customers in Texas and New Mexico from 5 distribution centers. Labatt wants its Commissioned drivers to have the safest fleet of trucks available. Trucks are equipped with the latest suite of radar and safety technology on the market, such as: adaptive braking and collision mitigation, lane departure warnings, and tire pressure monitoring on all tires. All our trucks are new and with automatic transmissions that will help with a smooth ride every day. Commissioned Driver Helper Responsibilities: * Responsible for assisting with the delivery of up to 1,400 cases by hand daily. Commissioned Driver Helper Qualifications: * Entry Level - no experience required - we will help you start and build a career! * Any of the following previous experiences is a plus! - Warehouse worker, Warehouse associate, delivery driver, package handler, order selector, manufacturing, factory worker, construction, general labor, laborer, landscaping, shipping and receiving, material handler, or any job where you work with your hands! * Must have the desire to become a Route Driver * Must bring a valid Texas driver's license, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States. * Applicable candidates must pass pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report, drug test, and physical. To assist the driver in any way possible to make safe, accurate and expediate deliveries to the customers. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work area. Accompany driver on route to assist with delivery or the product to the customer. At all stops get out of the truck and assist the driver while he is maneuvering the vehicle into a parked position. Report to work with neat appearance including the company uniform. Must always maintain a professional attitude and deliver excellent customer service. Unload case groceries and totes that are hand stacked in the truck by using two-wheeler and ramp. Check the invoice for refrigerated items and if necessary, climb into the front compartment of the trailer to retrieve these items for delivery. Take the loaded two-wheeler into the store and leave the items in a predetermined area. Load any damaged or returned items back into the truck for return to the warehouse. Required to unload any damaged or returned items on return for unscheduled duty Must be willing to occasionally perform Non-CDL deliveries or pickups as assigned. Must be willing to be gone from home overnight and possibly two or three nights per week. Required to attend safety meeting and other events as scheduled. Immediately report all personal injury accidents. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Certificates, License, Registration: None Computer Skills: None Other Qualifications: Must be eighteen (18) years of age. Repetitive lifting, up to 115 pounds. Must live within a 30-mile radius of the distribution center and have a home telephone. Must be available for unscheduled duty. Personable Self-Motivated. The employee is required to handle at least 300 pounds rolling weight on the two-wheeler. The employee must handle the two-wheeler on the ramp and may be required to pull uneven surfaces when wheeling the groceries into the store. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
