Our planning team partners closely with municipalities across New York State to provide planning and zoning support that strengthens communities and drives sustainable growth. We specialize in community and neighborhood planning, zoning and land use regulations, redevelopment strategies, active transportation, sustainability and resilience planning, grant services, and robust community engagement.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in municipal planning support, with expertise in comprehensive planning, zoning, public engagement, and implementation strategies that help communities in the lower Hudson Valley and NYC metro area achieve their long-term goals. Salary Range:
$90,000 - $110,000 per year

Requirements
Masters in Planning, public administration, or a related field and 5-10 years of experience. Candidates with a bachelor's degree will also be considered
AICP preferred or on track to achieve certification
Broad understanding of the principles and practices of municipal planning, zoning, and public engagement.
Experience with NYS funding programs; experience writing and administering grants a plus.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to present to elected officials, boards, and the public.

You will be responsible for designing solid waste facilities that will enable LaBella to create sustainable, cost-effective solutions tailored to the specific needs of our clients. The projects are intricate and incorporate both civil and environmental engineering skills, including land development (grading and stormwater management); leachate collection, treatment, and management; renewable energy designs; and organic waste management. Brand new, already operational, and closed solid waste facilities face many different types of challenges - there is never a dull moment, nor is there a cookie-cutter solution that fits every similar situation.
Duties:
Projects will include solid-waste related site development projects: develop master plans, design drawings, design of stormwater management and erosion control systems, technical specifications, and cost estimates
Prepare various types of related reports and studies to secure permitting for projects
Draft work for scoping/conceptual work/engineering packages
Assist with oversight and guidance of projects from initial concept through construction
Assist in the preparation of project proposals
Collaborate, mentor, and lead as appropriate
Prepare preliminary engineering reports
Perform and review detailed calculations: stormwater management, leachate generation and pipe sizing, slope stability, and compaction density

Requirements

Your Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Biologist, you will lead and coordinate biological desktop reviews for public and private projects supporting utility programs.
This position is primarily desktop (remote work from home or office).
Task duties include:
Providing quality control and maintaining a high standard for safety on biological field reports, biological reports and memos and other desktop reviews produced by junior biological staff and subcontractors.
Identification and support on environmental permitting, on various projects located throughout California, and coordination of biological reports with utility clients and internal Stantec teams.
Supporting multi-disciplinary project/program teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of utility operations and maintenance projects.
Understanding and knowledge of California flora/fauna will be needed, HCPs, permits, as well as understanding of typical construction activities on electric and/or gas and/or vegetation removal projects.
Management of author teams to make sure they are submitting quality deliverables, on-time and on budget.
Supporting project management teams and working on the financials of dynamic projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Perform linear facility (i.e., utility, transportation, etc.) environmental work, including at least 3 -5 years of experience performing biological and/or permitting work for California IOUs (or equivalent).
Familiar with leading large desktop review teams.
Strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities.
Strong reviewing skills and QA/QC skills.
Detail-oriented and capable of managing and tracking large amounts of data.
Takes initiative, team-oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills.
Should be familiar with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings.

Production related project tasks within the following software platforms: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Assisting the project team leaders to align Client & Technical Design Standards for each project.
Creating high quality documents and checking your own work after hand-offs to peer reviews.
What You'll Bring:
We are looking for someone who is a creative problem solver, willing and able to communicate design ideas and learn office production workflow in a collaborative, matrixed team environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited College or University
Technical Computer skills - Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Outlook, Excel
Strong communication skills, good collaborator, creative thinker
Experience working in technical project teams and with other service groups
