Set up, adjust, and operate all machines to perform a variety of machining operations on a diversified line of work. This role involves handling critical interrelationships and maintaining tolerances/finishes that are sometimes difficult to achieve. Handle parts appropriately to maintain required tolerances/finishes after the machining process is complete.
Responsibilities
+ Plan and select feeds, speeds, and tooling for all machine tools.
+ Plan and select work holding setups, tooling, cutting sequence, and depth of cuts.
+ Perform layout work when jigs are not available.
+ Grind tools, including form tools.
+ Recommend new tooling to improve efficiency, tool life, or part quality.
+ Work from drawings, specifications, and sketches.
+ Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to check work.
+ Edit feeds and speeds, load existing programs, and operate CNC machinery.
+ Set up and assist machine operators and other employees assigned to the Machine Shop.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency with reading and interpreting blueprints.
+ Experience using calipers and micrometers.
+ Manual programming and operation of CNC mill and CNC lathe.
+ At least 2 years of experience in CNC setup, with 5 years being ideal.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Mazak equipment is preferred.
