This position may assist with fine needle aspiration collection and NGYN and FNA screening. Proficiency testing and continuing education are required for all cytotechnologists. This position is required to keep daily workload records in accordance with CLIA '88. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of cytotechnology program from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) school. ASCP certification or eligible required. Students may be hired at the job title equivalent of a future Cytotechnologist under the following conditions: Student is enrolled in a cytotechnology program at CAAHEP school with a completion date within six (6) months of hire. Student must pass the ASCP Board Certification at the first opportunity but no later than 3 months after program completion A Bachelor's degree is required for individuals registered by the ASCP after September 1, 1994. Good interpersonal and organizational skills required. This position requires attaining 90% on an internal proficiency test at the time of interview. This position requires passing annually the required CAP-PT (or approved alternative by CLIA). This position requires maintaining 80% proficiency on quarterly GYN CAP mailings as well as 24 continuing education credits each year. This position serves as a department resource and is responsible for assisting with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agency and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA). May be responsible for the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens into the laboratory. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology, OR Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts may be reviewed to determine eligibility) AND certification (MLS or categorical). Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation) or other nationally recognized credentialing agency for review to determine eligibility. For certain specialty disciplines ONLY (Toxicology, HLA, HCTT, etc.) where no certification is available from a certifying agency, a bachelor's degree with one year of experience in that discipline is required. Position Summary The Molecular Technologist - Solid Tumor is responsible for performing various high complexity molecular techniques that include but are not limited to nucleic acid extractions and next generation sequencing (NGS). Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training, technical abilities and experience. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing. Adhere to and document all the laboratory's quality control policies and activities. Perform instrument maintenance and procedural calibrations. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor, manager or director. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Perform high complexity testing under the onsite, direct supervision of a general supervisor as defined in the CLIA regulations. Accepts other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications We are seeking to hire a Molecular Technologist with varying levels of experience. Molecular Technologist I - Entry level with Bachelor's degree in scientific field required and may have less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
