Work Schedule: This is a casual/PRN position. Hours will be "as needed" but the preferred scheduled will be Monday - Friday with start and end times from 10 am - 4 pm.

Job Responsibilities
Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred
Comfortability with handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

The Facilities Laboratory Associate Technician provides essential support for laboratory and facility operations, focusing on maintaining equipment, facilities, supply, and safety standards. This role collaborates across departments, including laboratory personnel and shipping/receiving, to ensure smooth and efficient laboratory and facility operations. Key Responsibilities:
Perform, coordinate, schedule, and track regular maintenance, calibration, and repair of general-use equipment (e.g., balances, pH meters, pipettes, DI water systems, refrigerators, freezers); manage communication and coordination with internal stakeholders and service vendors.
Maintain accurate maintenance and calibration records in spreadsheets and laboratory inventory management software.
Respond to, coordinate, and execute facility related requests submitted through an online ticketing system.
Participate in the on-call rotation of temperature monitoring for all laboratory refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and lab areas using environmental software. This will require response to alarms during business hours and occasionally after-hours response.
Identify and create purchase orders for the supply of common laboratory equipment parts and general laboratory needs.
Support the delivery of inert gas (nitrogen and argon) supply.
Support the disposal coordination of radioactive, hazardous and biohazard waste, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Serve as a point of contact for general office support needs.
Assist with the setup, coordination, and cleanup of on-site events.
Assist with the setup and teardown of laboratory workstations or other minor facility repairs/upgrades.

You might be picking up the samples from Sample Management, racking up samples, adding liquid chemicals, restocking, treating samples, or moving those samples along in the process. Successful candidates in this role are happy with repetitive work processes, are able to follow SOP's, are excited about a job that is fast-paced, science-based and always busy, working towards TAT each morning.
Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:
Currently our greatest need is in our Parasitology and Processing Department. This is the area of the lab where the samples first arrive.
You might be racking up samples, adding liquid chemicals, restocking, treating samples, or moving those samples along in the process
You may be restocking supplies, such as chemicals or slide trays.
You could be helping to load analyzers with slides of samples.
You might be assisting with inventory counts.

The department of Chemistry, within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides academic advisement and instruction in the chemical sciences to undergraduate and graduate degree seeking students at the University of Colorado Denver Campus. What you will do:
The state classified Laboratory II position is full-time and is responsible for providing student education laboratory related support services. This position procures and manages chemical inventory, instruments and equipment, establishes operation protocol and procedures, manages hazardous materials, waste and records, provides advisement and establishes procedures, processes and approves expenditures of operating funds for supplies. The position is responsible for office and record keeping functions that support the student teaching laboratory.
Oversee the UCDenver General Chemistry Teaching Labs - 50%
Monitor and report activities and operations within the labs.
Setup and take down weekly experiments.
Prepare chemical solutions and reagents.
Adhere to EH&S chemical management plan and safety regulations and maintain operational quantities of glassware, chemicals and equipment.
Oversee hood, plumbing and other infrastructure repairs to general teaching labs.
Specific attention and knowledge of general chemistry is required.
Chemical Management - 20%
Organize, handle, store and inventory chemicals and waste to minimize hazards, exposure and environmental impact.
Monitor and maintain limited amounts of flammable materials per Denver Fire Code.
Execute safeguards as prescribed by EH&S to protect students and staff from these hazards and maintain records of chemical inventory and waste management.
Create and develop protocols for safe handling and storage of chemicals.

To procure materials related to academic lab instruction.

Perform basic (weekly) NMR maintenance - 15%
Cryogen must be refilled weekly to maintain the Chemistry Department NMR.
This requires the ordering of liquid nitrogen, transfer of the liquid nitrogen to a compatible/ nonmagnetic dewar if necessary and then filling the NMR with liquid nitrogen to prevent quenching.
This position will also monitor liquid helium consumption and refill the magnet approximately twuice per year.
This position may also be required to change the probe from standard to low temperature or liquid to solid state.

Functions as part of a dynamic and engaging laboratory team in a professional setting. This caregiver is an experienced Laboratory Assistant who may act as a Team Lead or Trainer and serves as a resource to other caregivers, clinicians, and patients. The Laboratory Assistant II will be responsible for heading special projects, to include research, continuous improvement, and product evaluations. This position also orders, prepares, and delivers specimens to the appropriate department or testing facility. Caregivers in this role will gain valuable experience and knowledge to help prepare them for workplace and career advancement.
The Laboratory Assistant II (LA II) is an experienced Lab Assistant, with advanced knowledge of specimen processing in the clinical and/or pathology areas of the lab.
**Posting Specifics**
We are looking for candidates who would be interested in Part time work for the following shifts:
+ Days 0400-1230
+ Evenings 1230-2100
+ Nights 2100 - 0530
+ Full time and PRN shifts maybe available as well.
**Scope**
+ Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, heel stick) according to established procedures. Identifies patients using two patient identifiers. Labels specimens and specimen containers accurately.
+ Determines the correct priority for STAT, Routine, ASAP, etc. specimen collections. Collects and receives specimens into the laboratory utilizing computer protocols including processing, preparation, centrifugation, aliquot and routing of specimens, to include reference lab. Ensures the timely transport and processing of all patient specimens for testing.
+ Files patient's lab reports, requisitions charges for the business office and sends reports to outside hospitals and clinics. Posts charges and reconciles invoices. Investigate complex bills, as needed. Research and resolve any questionable patient orders. Enter patient demographic data accurately. Maintains required lab records and logs, collects statistics for reports and other clerical duties as directed by manager.
+ Performs complex specimen set-up. Enters complex orders and results. Packs and ships infectious materials. Communicates any special situations related to specimens or testing with all appropriate staff and management.
+ Cleans and maintains equipment, centrifuges, and refrigerators. Records daily temperatures of all refrigerators in the phlebotomy areas. Orders supplies and maintains sufficient inventory to efficiently operate phlebotomy services. Assists in the training of new associates and students. Acts as a receptionist, greeting patients and answering phones within the laboratory. Performs patient registration and test ordering and specimen processing as appropriate.
+ Documents and communicates information thoroughly and accurately. Utilizes equipment according to departmental guidelines, maintaining all equipment as per guidelines. Ensures equipment and supplies are maintained in appropriate working order. Evaluates and utilizes inventory appropriately, assists with inventory control as needed.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
+ Demonstrated experience as a Lab Assistant within a healthcare system.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience teaching concepts to others. Customer service experience.
+ Demonstrated experience as a Lab Assistant within Intermountain Health.
+ Six months of phlebotomy experience, phlebotomy training or national certification as approved by manager/supervisor. Preferred.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
