The Instructional Lab Assistant for the Automotive Collision Repair program plays a key role in supporting the faculty and enhancing student learning. This part-time position collaborates with the lead faculty to provide hands-on instruction while maintaining a safe environment. Job Description Biology Laboratory Prep Assistants are responsible for helping prepare for the laboratory components of the BIO classes running each block. Duties may include preparing reagents, basic preventive care and maintenance of scientific instruments, setting up the lab space, cleaning the labs, and basic animal care. Primary function of this position is to conduct chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and yeast, and/or microbiological analysis, both in-process and finished product. This position reports to the Laboratory Supervisor. May also receive direction from the Lab Superintendent, Quality Manager and Production Management. Interfaces with processing supervisors and operators, maintenance workers and general service operators, to obtain samples, explain needed maintenance in lab or to request supplies located outside the lab. The Department of Pathology-Medical Center North Liberty is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to provide moderately and highly complex clinical lab testing and analysis on biological specimens to provide information used in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Will use a variety of procedures that may involve numerous detailed tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment.. These positions are 100% time. Working hours will initially be M-F, 3rd shift (2230-0700 with rotating holidays and weekend potential) with primary duties to include instrument validation, SOP development and miscellaneous training activities, which could include training other technologists. Duties to include: * Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis for both moderately and highly complex testing on laboratory clinical and research biological specimens such as blood, tissue/organ and body fluids. * Dispenses blood products that are compatible for the patient being transfused. * Dispenses tissue products to the OR. * Prepares surgical specimens and other designated specimen types for transport to MCU.
