LABORATORY COORDINATOR Corporate Job Title Laboratory Coordinator Reporting Relationships Laboratory Manager Manages and coordinates day-to-day laboratory functions of the branch. Uses judgment and discretion in coordinating and scheduling the work activities of laboratory staff consistent with accepted operating practices and procedures, including periods during non-working hours, weekends, and holidays. Has the authority to call in additional Laboratory Technicians to work to meet day-to-day requirements. Receives, compiles, and verifies the data resulting from laboratory analyses on submitted samples and supervises the preparation of the applicable reports as per-standard procedures. Assists in the maintenance and control of the sample retain area, including standard cradle to grave sample requirements and waste disposal. Assists in the training of Laboratory Technicians. Other duties may be assigned. * Assist instructors, as needed, in operating laboratory classes in the department. * Organize, maintain, and control inventory. * Assist the instructor or senior lab personnel in preparing lab experiments and demonstrations. * Comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices. * Maintain lab equipment by cleaning and performing basic repairs, contacting the supervisor for more complicated repairs. * Perform clerical assistance, as needed for lab maintenance and attendance purposes. * May assist/tutor students with using lab software and equipment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Proficiency in Word processing, spreadsheet and web page applications. * Able to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds . * Must be able to receive, organize, maintain, test, and setup lab, equipment, materials, or hardware supplies. * Familiar with an academic lab setup, configuration, and testing of related equipment. * Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
