The Instructional Laboratory Assistant - Welding and Fabrication is a year-round, classified faculty position responsible for supporting faculty and students in achieving academic success within the Welding and Fabrication program. Working a 40-hour week, the lab assistant will provide hands-on guidance in lab activities, demonstrations, and technical support while maintaining lab safety and ensuring the proper operation of equipment and resources. Additionally, this role assistswith student recruitment and retention efforts, fostering an environment that promotes learning, skill development, and career readiness.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Instructional and Student Support:• Demonstrate and guide students through welding and cutting processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW, PAC, CAC, OFW, OFC, soldering, and brazing.• Observe, coach, and assist students with homework, lab assignments, and class projects to ensure proper technique and understanding of concepts.• Provide feedback and technical support to help students achieve academic success and meet course objectives.• Relay course objectives and instructor expectations to students as needed, ensuring clarity and alignment with the curriculum.• Oversee student safety within the lab environment. Laboratory Setup and Maintenance:• Set up, operate, and break down lab equipment for demonstrations and lab sessions, following instructor guidance.• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment to minimize downtime and ensure functionality.• Ensure lab and classroom environments are safe, organized, and conducive to learning by following safety protocols and guidelines.• Assist in inventory management, including tracking and procurement of supplies through scan tools and related software.Faculty and Program Support:• Collaborate with faculty by supporting classroom and lab activities, creating student handouts, presentations, and assisting with assignments.• Respond to faculty requests for technical or instructional support to enhance the learning experience.• Mentor and track part-time workers under the direction of the supervisor.• Maintain accurate records related to inventory, equipment maintenance, and student progress as required.Recruitment, Outreach, and Events:• Participate in student recruitment efforts by promoting the program during campus tours, promotional events, and visits to local high schools.• Assist in the organization of welding competitions, open houses, and program-related events to showcase the program and student achievements.Administrative and Technical Duties:• Support program marketing and promotional efforts by assisting with events, presentations, and outreach initiatives.• Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers for inventory procurement and equipment servicing. Hours/Schedule: Varies based on class schedules, including days, nights, and weekends.Physical Demands:· Move about two-thirds of the time and remain stationary for the remaining one-third.· Lift and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly.· Operate welding and manufacturing machinery in various settings.· Conduct safe work practices as they relate to working with chemicals and materials typical of the welding industry. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field.• AWS Certified Welder (CW) certification.• Five years of documented full-time experience in the welding/fabrication industry.• Proficiency in welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW, PAC, CAC, OFW, and brazing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.• Knowledge of blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and operation of heavy equipment (press brake, saws, shears, tubing bender, drill press, cold saw, etc.).• Proficiency with standard and metric measuring devices.• Basic computer skills in MS Excel and Word, and the ability to scan/print.• Professional email communication skills and a valid driver's license.• Availability to work days, nights, and weekends, with limited travel as needed.     US Cannalytics is a multi-state cannabis testing lab serving the medicinal and adult-use cannabis industry. We are in search of an experienced senior scientist to join our team and help us grow our newest location in Warren, MI. The laboratory supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of technical laboratory operations, including overseeing the quality testing and release of medical cannabis and hemp/CBD products. Our mission is to provide our customers with timely delivery of high-quality results and unparalleled service. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures, state regulations, and ISO-17025 accredited quality management system Executing method optimization across major analytical testing (HPLC, GCMSMS, LCMSMS, and ICPMS) Inventory management of both laboratory consumables and samples submitted for testing. Responsible for continuous improvement of workflow and improvements to turnaround time of test results. Oversight, performance, maintenance and assurance of continuous operation of analytical equipment, and as necessary, assists Laboratory Management with the selection of new or alternative instrumentation. Analyzes laboratory testing data for quality review as the Laboratory Director's Designee, including the documented approval of test results and quality controls within the LIMS. Directs and monitors daily workflow to ensure ongoing instrument availability and completion of expected turnaround times. Directs and monitors subordinate staff to ensure samples are prepared and analyzed, as scheduled, and following organizational standard operating procedures. Provides training in sample preparation techniques and analytical methods. Responsible for completion and retention of personnel training records. Responsible for communicating patterns of non-conformance to Management. Provides feedback to Management for personnel performance evaluations. Assists Management in building and monitoring performance improvement plans. Oversees timely ordering, submission and successful performance of proficiency testing, including personnel participation as listed in applicable regulatory requirements. Designs, performs and continuously reviews applicability of technical methods and validation materials, in conjunction with Laboratory Management. Reviews, documents and approves small equipment verification studies. Designs and develops analytical equipment verification study plans. Designs and develops test method validation and/or validation plans. Calculates, summarizes and verifies acceptability of analytical limits of quantitation and control limits. Assists in determining and calculating Measurement of Uncertainty. Performs internal auditing activities of department personnel and analytical methods to ensure compliance with internal and external compliance requirements. Completion of appropriate non-conforming work records, including root cause analysis, as needed. Provides opportunities for improvement or greater efficiency. Performs supplementary training, as appropriate. Suggests revisions to existing controlled documents to increase compliance. Develops additional tools or resources, as needed, to support compliance. Serves as the laboratory's subject-matter expert on its testing methodologies, answering questions, concerns or providing technical assistance internally across the organization, or externally, as requested by Management. Maintains and approves equipment records. Maintains consumables inventory. Maintains and approves reagent records, including safety and compliance records. Assists in developing, reviewing and updating the laboratory's materials and workflows including but not limited to its training documents, LIMs, QMIS, eQMS and applicable seed-to-sale systems. Minimum Qualifications: At least 21 years old and able to pass all state-specific requirements for cannabis employment. Maintain a valid driver's license. A master's level science degree in a chemical or biological science. Minimum of 3 years of professional (non-academic) laboratory experience in a production environment related pharmaceutical, food-sciences, or manufacturing testing. Minimum of 3 years of professional (non-academic) laboratory experience in a production environment accredited under a 17025-accreditation standard. Minimum of 2 years of professional (non-academic) of laboratory management experience in a production environment. Method discovery and validation experience with a minimum of GCMSMS and LCMSMS. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite programs. Meticulous attention to detail and ability to effectively multitask. In this critical role, you'll play an integral part in delivering advanced cardiac care by supporting diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of cardiac innovation - monitoring patient status, assisting physicians during complex procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, precision, and compassion. As a senior-level technologist, you'll bring clinical expertise, leadership, and a deep understanding of cardiovascular pathologies, making a direct impact on patient outcomes every single day. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate expert knowledge of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology. Monitor and assist in a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. Interpret ECG waveforms, including lethal arrhythmias and signs of myocardial infarction or chamber enlargement; intervene per ACLS protocols when necessary. Assist in the use and interpretation of advanced imaging techniques, including intravascular ultrasound, Doppler velocimetry, and cine angiographic projections. Calculate and interpret hemodynamic parameters and cardiac pressure waveforms. Identify coronary anatomy and support physicians during angioplasty (PTCA), atherectomy, and other complex procedures. Prepare and manage the procedural table setup and required sterile supplies. Operate and understand the full suite of cath lab fluoroscopy and imaging equipment. Accurately document catheterization events and monitor patient status in real-time using specialized systems. Perform ACT (Activated Clotting Time) testing, cardiac outputs, and O₂ saturations. Understand and assist in electrophysiologic studies, pacemaker implants, defibrillator placements, and therapeutic ablation procedures. Recognize abnormal lab values (e.g., ABGs, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN, creatinine) and report to physicians promptly. Demonstrate complete familiarity with cardiac medications (generic/trade names), their uses, dosages, and pharmacologic actions. Lead and participate in special projects and relevant department committees as needed. Support orientation and training of new staff and promote continuous learning and team development. Uphold the highest standards of medical ethics, patient privacy, and safety throughout all clinical interactions. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Allied Health program in one of the following: Cardiovascular Technology Radiologic Technology Respiratory Therapy Cardiac or Vascular Sonography Exercise Science or equivalent Active RCIS, RCES, or ARRT certification with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) credential. BLS certification (required at time of hire). ACLS certification (required within 6 months of hire). Previous hospital Cath Lab experience is required. Proven scrub experience in a cardiac catheterization setting. Strong communication, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills Desired Qualifications Prior experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced cath lab environment. Ability to lead or participate in training, special projects, or quality improvement initiatives. Familiarity with cardiac-specific electronic documentation systems. Comfortable taking call and responding to emergency cardiac procedures. Location and Work Type: On-site position based in Michigan. This is a 13-week contract with the potential for extension.
