It is his/her responsibility to ensure that the instruments are functioning correctly and that there are reasonable and acceptable back up procedures for the times when instrumentation fails. The Lab Supervisor will order supplies in a manner that will consistently provide adequate materials, minimize outdated items and result in cost effective inventory levels. The Supervisor is expected to provide the leadership whenever exceptions occur, within the Section, and problem resolution or additional information is needed. This requires that the Supervisor maintain a competency level at which he/she is the resident expert. The Supervisor will provide the training to other Technologists in order to keep them informed and functioning at optimal competency. This will be documented and available.
