Job Summary:
Reporting to the Laboratory Director, Operations Coordinator, Technical Supervisors and Clinical Laboratory Scientists, the Laboratory Assistant II - Chemistry/Micro/BB/Pathology is responsible for correctly and efficiently performing technical procedures and Quality Control in one or more sections of the Clinical laboratory, operating and maintaining instrumentation as assigned, taking steps necessary to assure accurate reports, performing clerical and phlebotomy tasks as needed. Summary/Objective

Performs rapid adequacy assessments at the FNA clinic sites.
Communicates professionally, courteously, effectively and accurately with internal and external staff, clients, physicians with an emphasis on SBAR system communication.
Actively promotes positive communications that enhance teamwork.
Processes GYN specimens, if applicable.
Overviewing & Re-screening GYN discrepancies while suggesting approaches to management on ways to reduce errors.
Responsible for inventory control and stocking Inventory (i.e, FNA clinic).
Maintaining & recording laboratory equipment preventative maintenance.
Collaborate with other departments, colleagues, and clients in problem solving.
Perform troubleshooting specimen/test order problems and notifying management if applicable.
Participating in work-related educational seminars, surveys, in-services (CAP, ASCP; MediaLab).
Maximizing the highest quality performance and productivity throughout shift
Must complete all assignments with minimal supervision.

Coordinate with Microbiology Department to maintain consistent supply of distilled water for Chemistry labs.

Using top load balance, weigh samples to obtain correct and accurate weights.
Using appropriate cleaning materials to clean and sterilize all laboratory instruments, glassware, flatware and equipment.
Timely document all cleaning and maintenance performed on the equipment in the Chemistry department.
Proactively assist Laboratory Associates and Analysts in the performance of chemical tests.
Daily, check and record temperature of all refrigerators and freezers in the Chemistry department.
Daily, verify and record calibration of the top load balance used to weigh samples.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
