Role Summary

We are seeking a Lab Chemistry Technician who is passionate about hands-on experimentation and eager to support the creation of advanced materials for next generation humanoid robots. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing materials with precision, running characterization tests, executing polymer and other organic synthesis reactions, and working closely with senior scientists in a fast paced laboratory environment.
You will work directly under the supervision of the Polymer Chemist and the Materials Science Lead, supporting the development of elastomers, coatings, adhesives, textiles and multilayer material systems that enable future robot architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare polymer formulations, elastomers, textiles and composite samples, and perform hands-on laboratory experiments including the synthesis and modification of polymers under senior scientist supervision.
Operate laboratory equipment for mixing, curing, casting, coating, laminating, and other processing of soft material systems.
Execute and improve synthesis workflows using glass and stainless reactors, feed pumps, temperature controllers, nitrogen purging systems, and filtration equipment, following SOPs for start up, shut down, and cleaning.
Conduct material characterization such as tensile testing, hardness measurements, rheology, thermal analysis, adhesion testing, and visual inspection.
Maintain meticulous laboratory records, document procedures and results, and contribute to technical reports when required.
Communicate results, observations, and interpretations clearly and proactively to supervising scientists.
Maintain an up to date SDS database and ensure proper labeling, handling, storage, and inventory management of chemicals and materials.
Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, follow established safety procedures, and contribute to ongoing improvements in lab safety practices and workflows.

Job DescriptionPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Bay Area Director and working closely with the Bay Area Market Lead, the Leasing Associate will provide critical support in leasing commercial lab and office assets within the Bay Area, a highly active and dynamic life science market. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the potential and the desire to grow over time towards independent deal execution.
The Leasing Associate will support all aspects of the leasing process while learning to structure complex deals that balance stakeholder needs across a publicly traded REIT. They will manage Bay Area market data, draft transaction materials, assist with underwriting and capital projects, and collaborate closely with brokers to ensure smooth deal execution. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to develop within a high-visibility, high-impact team.
Draft compelling proposal letters to facilitate lab, retail, and office leases across all Bay Area campuses.
Assist with financial underwriting, including evaluation of rent structures, concession packages, and TI allowances.
Maintain a high-quality database of leasing contacts, key tenant executives, and subtenant relationships.
Foster strong relationships with brokerage teams, ensuring timely responses to inquiries, and consistent communication.
Monitor and track competitive market activity to support pricing recommendations and strategic planning.
Partner with property management and the Lab Marketing Associate to ensure all vacancies are tour-ready and accurately marketed, including current floor plans, measurements, and collateral.
Coordinate seamless on-site tours with brokers and property management, ensuring smooth access and a positive tenant/broker experience, attending tours as needed.
Support resolution of any space-related questions or operational issues that may impact leasing.
Maintain organized deal files including RFPs and proposals, lease drafts, tenant space plans, improvement budgets, and analyses, CAD files, as-builts, etc.
Support internal processes such as routing sublease consents, tracking Letters of Credit and Security Deposits post-execution, and submission of broker commission invoices to accounts payable.
Assist with balancing speed of deal execution and compliance with internal workflows for deal approval, including JV partner considerations as applicable
Ensure accurate data integrity across internal systems for leases, prospects, and pipeline activity.
Assist in preparing portfolio updates, leasing summaries, and materials for leadership, etc.
Assist in monthly calls with the Market Lead, Leasing Director, PMA, and Property Management teams to align priorities and upcoming vacancies.
Gather and maintain critical building documentation such as building system matrices, BOMA reports, as-built plans, process utility information, and other due-diligence materials.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
3 to 5 years of commercial real estate experience (life science real estate experience preferred)
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
General analytical proficiency and a robust attention to detail are crucial for this role
Strong teamwork and relationshipâbuilding capabilities, with leadership instincts and a growth mindset
Ability to appropriately prioritize and proactively communicate within a fastâpaced, dynamic work environment

Pharmaceutical Technical Development (PTDU) develops, delivers, and supports robust, cost-effective production methods and technologies for innovative therapeutics to meet the needs of Genentech's Research, Development, Commercial, and Product Operations groups. This program provides a broad perspective and appreciation of the development of new processes, methods, and technologies at different production scales in the biotechnology industry.
Candidates applying for the PTDU Intern Program should be passionate about science/engineering and thoroughly enjoy the challenges associated with complex problem-solving. Candidates must be highly self-motivated and able to work effectively as individuals and as part of multi-disciplinary teams in an atmosphere of casual intensity to develop medicines for unmet medical needs.
Interns with a laboratory focus will work alongside scientists to design, execute, and analyze wet-lab or dry-lab-based experiments in support of the diverse development activities needed to produce therapeutics at scale for patients. Previous internship projects have included but are not limited to:
Cell and molecular biology approaches to develop novel drug potency assays.
Bioreactor, fermentation, and cell culture media studies.
Drug analysis using tools like mass spectrometry, HPLC, NMR
Protein structure and stability studies.
Developing cell differentiation protocols in support of cell therapy programs.
Updates to the PTDU Assay Information & Request (PAIR) System.
Benchling templates and results schema update.
Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree (enrolled student graduating in 2026 or 2027).
Must have attained a Bachelor's degree no more than 2 years ago from the time of application (not currently enrolled in a grad program).
Must be pursuing a Master's degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Master's degree no more than 2 years ago from the time of application.
Required Majors: Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biophysics, or related disciplines.
