Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0.01 Work Shift: Nights (United States of America) Performs diagnostic testing for sleep disorders including Home Sleep Studies (HST), Baseline Diagnostic Polysomnograms (PSG), Positive Airway Pressure titrations (CPAP, BiPAP, iVAPs, ASV), Multiple Sleep Latency (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing (MWT), titration of oral devices for OSA, and supplemental oxygen titration. Demonstrates organizational, computer, interpersonal, and technical skills to complete quality clinical procedures and excellent patient care. Assists with physician clinics and facilitates treatment compliance with patient education, mask fittings, and desensitization sessions, as needed.
Job Duties:
Performs Routine and LTM EEG studies utilizing the standard 10-20 system of electrode placement.
Assures cleanliness and safety of patient care, technical, supply, and storage rooms in the Sleep Center.
Maintains proper cleanliness, care for, and functioning of sleep study equipment and supplies.
Ensures accurate registration, payment collection, and charging for patient encounter in patient's electronic medical record (EMR).
Reviews patient chart including physician order, face to face, history and physical, medications, comorbidities, and prior patient sleep encounters to confirm accuracy of order, appropriateness of testing, and identify potential issues & effects of patient health on sleep study.
Reviews orders and performs appropriate sleep disorders testing according to facility policy & procedures as well as American Academy of Sleep Medicine, state and federal government, and accrediting body standards & regulations.
Accurately completes all workflows, charting, scoring, documentation, and necessary scanning in the patient EMR and sleep study system for each patient encounter.
Assists with scheduling of patient visits & procedures, reminder calls, filling vacancies from cancellation list, and proper tracking of patient reschedules, cancellations, and no shows in the EMR.
Promptly reports any facility cleanliness, maintenance problem, safety hazard, equipment malfunction, supply issue, patient complaints, patient or staff injury, security concern, infection control issue, etc. to management and the appropriate supporting department.
Completes all required continuing education in compliance with credentialing body, Sleep Center and hospital accrediting bodies, and BSMH policy.
Performs other tasks deemed necessary by manager to facilitate customer service or business operations including shift, work schedule, department, or location change.
Maintains positive relationships with customers, coworkers, and others.
Attends meetings as needed.
Required Minimum Education:
High School Diploma / GED
Specialty/Major: Sleep, Respiratory Therapy, EEG, or other clinical healthcare field.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Laboratory Scientist:
A. A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics, AND successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
B. At least a full 4-year course of study that included 12 months in a college or hospital-based medical technology program or medical technology school approved by a recognized accrediting organization. The professional medical technology curriculum may have consisted of a 1-year post- bachelor's certificate program or the last 1 or 2 years of a 4-year program of study culminating in a bachelor's in medical technology.
OR
C. A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from an accredited college/university, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND five years of full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, microbiology, Immunology and Urinalysis/Body Fluids. This combination of education and experience must have provided knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of medical technology equivalent to that provided by the full 4-year course of study described in A or B above. All science and mathematics courses must have been acceptable for credit toward meeting the requirements for a science major at an accredited college or university. Acceptable experience is responsible professional or technician experience in a hospital laboratory, health agency, industrial medical laboratory, or pharmaceutical house; or teaching, test development, or medical research program experience that provided an understanding of the methods and techniques applied in performing professional clinical laboratory work. Certification/licensure as a medical technologist (generalist) obtained through written examination by a nationally recognized credentialing agency or State licensing body is a good indication that the quality of experience is acceptable.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0644 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing high complexity patient testing (such as routine microbiological culture testing, serology/immunology, body fluids, and molecular testing) within a Clinical Pathology Service/Microbiology Laboratory; setting up/monitoring quality controls; troubleshooting/performing maintenance on testing instruments; and performing proficiency testing for national accreditation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma and college degree in Laboratory Science, or equivalent. Must have national accreditation with ASCP, or equivalent, or be eligible. Accreditation must be obtained within 6 months of hire date
One year experience in a medical laboratory environment (or)
Certificate of completion from an accredited laboratory training program (or)
Transferable skills (i.e. 1 year or more in an armed forces medical laboratory setting) (

Required to demonstrate competencies of the position within 2 weeks of hire

Qualifications
High school equivalent and completion of NAACLS or two-part Phlebotomy program and performed 40 hours of classroom training, 100 hours of clinical training and 100 successful venipuncture (including skin punctures).
You have minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years performing venipunctures and finger-stick on patients from pediatric to geriatric patients. Experience must be counted following the completion of NAACLS or two-part Phlebotomy program from above.
Meet all health screening and vaccination requirements.
Ability to obtain base access and complete credentialing requirements
Prior experience in military or government healthcare settings is a plus.
References: We'll need you to provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting your clinical skills and attest your communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members. Both Reference Letters must include the name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.
At least one (1) letter must be from a physician or supervisor who has personally observed and evaluated you and who can attest to your clinical skills in the care of patients.
The other letter may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician or nurse who has personal knowledge of your patient care skills in a similar clinical environment.

The Laboratory Department is looking for a Phlebotomist to join our growing team. Essential Functions:

Collects all specimens according to established procedures from patients and ensures that they are properly processed
Identifying patients accurately and matching the patient's identity with the correct service is critical for patient safety
Responsible for data entry and processing of specimen by labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as requested by test orders
Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, and answer phones as needed
Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
Other duties as assigned
Education:
High School Degree or GED
Licensure/Certification:
Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required
Experience:
One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required
Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred
