Provide reports to physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed. Data Entry: Enter results and data into lab system or other software with accuracy Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), Troubleshoot issues with analyzers, immunoassay kits, and other lab equipment to prevent downtime and ensure high-performance operation. Inventory & Reagents Management: Monitor inventory levels for reagents and supplies, ensuring timely ordering and restocking. Validate reagent performance before use in diagnostic tests. Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines, infection control policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA). Participate in regular inspections and ensure readiness for audits. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on new technologies, methodologies, and advancements in clinical lab diagnostics. Participate in professional development and training sessions. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. It is the goal of the Blood Lab Department to ensure that clients receive timely, reliable results, accurate information regarding lab test inquiries, and high quality customer service via all interactions with the department. Core Duties and Responsibilities: Provide exceptional customer service via phone calls, written correspondence, and in-person interactions for both internal and external clients in alignment with Life Extension's philosophy. Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health published protocols. Receives specimens in to the Laboratory Information System LIS accurately and timely, labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens. Assists customer requests for laboratory information including sendout tests to national reference labs. Prepares and packages specimens for transport to reference labs. Researches new sendout requests by Physicians using available resources. Enters lab charges and CPT codes on all Lab Miscellaneous tests. Distributes specimens to testing section in accordance with collection priority, i.e. STAT over Routine. Faxes and distributes results as appropriate. Responsible for maintaining knowledge and deployment of policies and procedures used within the department as well as throughout the hospital to address patient questions and concerns. Estimated pay range for this position is $18.87 - $24.53 / hour depending on experience. Degrees: * High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper. Licenses & Certifications: * AAMA Certified Medical Assistant. * Phlebotomist Certification. Additional Qualifications: * REQUIRED: Phlebotomy and computer skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written, excellent customer service skills required, and ability to work in a high volume fast paced work environment. * PREFERRED: Phlebotomy or medical assistant certificate. * Experience in Hospital phlebotomy experience with pediatric, geriatric, oncology and neonate patients. * Bilingual preferred. Up to $5,000 Sign-On bonus based on experience Position Summary A medical technologist has the appropriate educational background to perform laboratory procedures on neonatal, pediatric, and adult specimens using established and approved protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision, maintains equipment and records, and performs quality assurance activities related to test performance. Performs a variety of laboratory tests on blood, tissue and body fluids using both automated and manual methods. A technologist performs a broad range of laboratory procedures in one or more areas such as chemistry, hematology, immunology, immunohematology or microbiology. Ensures the delivery of quality laboratory services and accurate, timely reporting of lab test results which meets the standards of practice, established policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations at West Boca Medical Center and/or off site at West Boca Emergency Center. A technologist adheres to the legal responsibilities and scope of practice as written by the Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel, State of Florida. The technologist's role subsumes all aspects of the technician's role. Minimum: Associate degree Clinical Laboratory Technologist License Preferred: Experience and/or education should relate to any combination recognized by state of Florida for license as Clinical Lab Technologist. Minimum 1-5 years as a Medical Technologist rotating in technical areas or section in an acute care hospital laboratory.
