Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

The Animal Laboratory Technician III (ALTIII) is a leading position requiring deep understanding and proficiency in routine and non-routine tasks conducted in the vivarium, the rules and regulations that govern the care and use of research animals as well as Cedar Sinai's specific policies and procedures. This knowledge allows the incumbent to assist the Supervisor in leading the husbandry team by performing quality checks, assessing labor and workloads as well as serving as backup in the event of staff shortages. The ALTIII creates, reviews, and revises processes and procedures including but not limited to standard operating procedures (SOPs), forms, policies, and checklists to develop, implement and/or maintain the training program for comparative medicine technicians and laboratory personnel. In addition, this role is responsible for performing specialized duties related to the husbandry of all species housed in the Department including managing vendor deliveries of animals/equipment/supplies and irradiation confirmation of all incoming diets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs routine quality checks in their assigned areas, including, but not limited to animal care, room maintenance, monitoring of room environmental conditions, general area cleanliness of the vivarium, and proper documentation of the assigned tasks.
Reports deviation through the right channels and follows up on preventive and corrective actions.
Receives and assigns or processes service requests submitted by research staff to provide special diets and medicated water to animals in the vivarium. This includes product verification, ordering, receiving and proper on site management of the diets
Reviews animal delivery reports one business day prior to scheduled receipt to ensure accuracy of PI rodent housing location as well as sufficient housing space and communicates any issues to the Animal Care Coordinator or Husbandry Supervisor. May serve as a back up for Animal Care Coordinator.
Supports the Supervisor overseeing census scanning, census reconciliation, animal space allocation, generating the husbandry schedule, and review of electronic and physical records daily (e.g., RMS2)
Maintains inventory of feed, bedding supplies and equipment and submits purchase orders in the current system for approval. Supplies include, but are not limited to, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), cleaning supplies and other items needed in the vivaria.
Oversees or conducst vivarium support tasks including but not limited to annual Individual Ventilated Cage (IVC) rack sanitization, decontamination of animal holding areas, and animal imports and exports.
Participates in creating, editing, and reviewing documents including but not limited to SOPs, forms, training checklists, and working instructions as requested by Supervisor.
Actively participates in the creation, delivery, and maintenance of Comparative Medicine training program for technicians, and the vivarium training for research staff.
Responsible for independently identifying additional tasks (other than those assigned) and/or opportunities for improvement, following lean management practices
May collaborate with research staff and PI to address concerns and determine solutions for challenges.
Qualifications
Education:
A High School Diploma/GED is required. A graduate of an AVMA-CVTEA or CVMA accredited veterinary technology program is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Eligibility for certification by AALAS at the Assistant Laboratory Technician (ALAT) level upon hire.
Eligibility for certification by AALAS at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level within 90 days of hire
Valid and current driver's license is required.
Experience and Skills:
Five (5) years of experience working in a laboratory animal setting is required.
Ability to learn, apply and maintain compliance with the rules and regulations governing the care and use of animals in research.

Responsibilities
1. Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger stick, and heel stick) according to established procedure.
a. Performs venipuncture using correct technique and with minimal discomfort to the patient.
b. Performs finger stick procedures with correct technique and when unable to obtain specimen by venipuncture.

b. Draws severe trauma and/or disaster patients immediately.
c. Ensures that STATs are transported to lab on a priority bases immediately for serious cases: Trauma, disaster; within 15 minutes of draw for other STATs. Hourly for routines.
4. Utilizes computers as appropriate in completing assigned functions.
a. Registers patients in system, completing all required fields with correct information.
b. Verifies all information for accuracy.
c. Performs order entry with no errors.
d. Generates collection lists, NCC list and can add on or cancel tests.

Performs phlebotomy functions and non-technical duties in areas including the hospital laboratory, outpatient and off-site services
Responsibilities
1. Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger stick, and heel stick) according to established procedure.
a. Performs venipuncture using correct technique and with minimal discomfort to the patient.
b. Performs finger stick procedures with correct technique and when unable to obtain specimen by venipuncture.
c. Performs heel stick on babies with correct technique.
2. Identifies patients and properly labels specimen tubes.
a. Identifies patient by checking name and date of birth (and hospital medical record number for blood bank specimens) on patient armband.
b. Labels all specimen tubes following established procedure: Date and time of draw and phlebotomist initials.
3. Determines priority of STAT draws. Ensures timely transport of all patient specimens to lab for testing :
a. Prioritizes STAT requests. Draws STATs within 10-15 minutes of request.
b. Draws severe trauma and/or disaster patients immediately.
c. Ensures that STATs are transported to lab on a priority bases immediately for serious cases: Trauma, disaster; within 15 minutes of draw for other STATs. Hourly for routines.
4. Utilizes computers as appropriate in completing assigned functions.
a. Registers patients in system, completing all required fields with correct information.
b. Verifies all information for accuracy.
c. Performs order entry with no errors.
d. Generates collection lists, NCC list and can add on or cancel tests.
5. Organizes assigned work and accurately completes workload
6. Helps co-workers when needed and communicates with laboratory departments when needed to ensure an orderly work flow.
a. Assists co-workers with blood-drawing procedures on morning rounds before returning to phlebotomy station.
b. Informs floors of missed patients or patients not drawn for any reason at time of attempt.
c. Informs Supervisor of problems in obtaining specimens for any reason.

The Allied Health School CLS Program Director for the Cedars-Sinai Allied Health School (AHS) within the Cedars-Sinai Health Sciences University (HSU) is an educational leader in the CLS field and provides subject matter expertise in the administration of the academic program. The CLS Program Director ensures that the educational program aligns with accreditation standards and prepares graduates for successful placement in their field.
This role is responsible for curriculum development, coordinating teaching assignments, and maintaining communication with affiliated education teams. The AHS CLS Program Director also plays a role in faculty development, offering mentorship and fostering an environment conducive to creativity and responsibility. In addition, will support students including guidance for students who need educational and/or psychological support.
