SUMMARY: Reports to the Pathology Manager. Within Hospital and department policies, as well as following detailed instructions and procedures, performs routine preparatory work for Technicians and Technologists. Processes specimens for Routine, Fungal, AFB, Legionella, and Ova and Parasite requests.Logs blood units into computer system, takes temperatures, records receipt of supplies, rotates stock, loads and unloads blood cultures and performs limited function (waived) testing. Enters necessary information on log sheets and/or into the laboratory computer system.Performs a variety of clerical duties, including those associated with coding and billing. Prepares and maintains detailed records of laboratory procedure requests and results, codes outpatient billing forms and generates appropriate billing data.Answers telephone and responds to general and specific information requests. High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in chemistry or related, helpful Minimum three years in a related Lab Technician role with experience in wet chemistry techniques, chemical analysis, and data interpretation Knowledge of metallurgy or precious metals extraction helpful Familiar with serial dilution practices to prepare standards, mobile phases, and reagents Experience in the operation, calibration, and maintenance of analytical instruments (knowledge of ICP-OES, XRF and Combustion Methodologies helpful) Experience in an industrial lab environment; high level of awareness of safety protocols and best practices Demonstrated ability to learn and perform new lab specific analytical methods. Familiar with quality system of controls for laboratories to ensure the uniformity, consistency, reliability, reproducibility, quality, and integrity of processes. Proficient IT system knowledge: Excel (data entry, data analysis, report generation) Lab Management system experience preferred.
