**Job Summary**
Supervises staff in the processing and phlebotomy departments. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, collecting, preparing and processing biological specimens. Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks. Collects and processes specimens according to test requests and requirements. Establishes and teaches best practices for specimen collection and processing in the clinical laboratory. Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment. Oversees daily workflow to ensure patient and departmental needs are met. Monitors staff behavior, performance and development and actively addresses issues as they present. Must possess good organizational, communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills. Demonstrates leadership skills with support, encouragement, and guidance to team members. Demonstrates personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment.
**Qualifications**
High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
Two years of laboratory related experience required.
Phlebotomy certification required. Completion of a formal phlebotomy program preferred. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures and related duties.
