Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Position Summary
The Phillips lab plans to make multiple hires for research positions at the appropriate rank to be responsible for supporting synthetic and molecular biology projects by generating complex transgenics using CRISPR-Cas9 technology and conducting high-throughput screens. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: single cell/single nuclei isolation and sorting by flow cytometry (FACS), microinjections, and preparation of sequencing libraries. 5. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.

Department Summary
The Department of Biology at the University of Oregon offers expertise and research opportunities in a wide range of disciplines including neuroscience, genetics, cell and developmental biology, evolution, ecology, and marine biology. Our undergraduate curriculum provides an introductory overview into each of these areas and provides the opportunity for advanced training and specialization in particular areas through course work and research experience.
The research activities of the department are centered in four separate research institutes. These Institutes bring faculty from Biology and other departments with biological interests into contiguous lab space. The University supports interdepartmental connections among Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology and Human Physiology.
Position Summary
The Lab Coordinator is a high-level professional position with specialized expertise and technical skills that functions as a subject matter expert to facilitate Biology education at the undergraduate and graduate student level, in a unit serving over 1200 undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate students. This full-time, 12-month position has primary responsibility and broad authority for all aspects of the unit's instructional lab prep, including the health, safety, equipment, and supply needs for the associated classes. The Lab Coordinator manages two lab prep work areas and eight Biology-owned classrooms, and supervises 8-12 student employees. The position responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests from a variety of constituents.
The position reports to the Department of Biology Curriculum Director, but works independently under minimal supervision to perform laboratory work, including developing, implementing, and troubleshooting lab exercises; setting up and maintaining equipment and supplies for Biology courses; collecting/ordering all materials and supplies needed for laboratories; and setting up weekly lab exercises in lab room. The position also assists in labs/discussions, acts as grader, supervises students in labs, attends lectures, prepares materials for classes, assists on field trips, and works closely with the instructor in preparation of class assignments and maintaining class lecture/lab schedules. As necessary, the position may act as an assistant to the instructor in Biology classes. If the employee is qualified and interested, and depending upon the department's curricular needs, the employee may be assigned as the instructor of record for Biology summer course(s).
The Lab Coordinator will make recommendations for the lab prep student employee budget, course fees, field trip fees, and instructional equipment. This position will have the authority and responsibility to make decisions related to the efficient operation of the Huestis and Klamath lab prep rooms, stockrooms, the biology-owned instructional classrooms, and the instructional lab experience.
The position may require work hours outside of the normal work week (i.e., evenings and Saturdays/Sundays).

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of interventional physician and department management team, performs all routine diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic angiographic or catheterization procedures.
Assures equipment is functioning properly.
Produces and evaluates data, information and images used by the physician in the performance of the procedure.
Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patients vital signs, interpreting status information and function in one or more of the following: monitor, scrub or circulating technologist.
Educates patients, family members and Cath team.
Processes results, archives images and stocks inventory with monthly outdates checked.
Qualifications:
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Oregon State License.
Current ACLS and BLS required upon hire.
Previous general diagnostic / interventional vascular and cardiology preferred.
Previous EP experience highly preferred.
Must have the ability to work efficiently, responsibly and in a team-oriented atmosphere with multiple work demands.
Must be able to respond appropriately in emergency situations that may arise in high risk procedures.
Ability to perform essential job functions and job specific competencies.
Knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiac pharmacology and basic ECG interpretation skills.
Proficient in the operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of all equipment in the interventional areas.
Must possess strong interpersonal relations skills with a high sensibility to the needs of others, including the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and their families, supervisors, peers, volunteers and other customers.

What You'll be Doing:
Detect precise edits
in vivo
using standard to advanced molecular biology techniques.
Inject, screen, and propagate
de novo
genome edited animals.
Troubleshoot genome editing projects and analysis of genotyping data.
Work collaboratively with the team to meet commercial timelines, with the ability to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously.
Adhere to SOPs and provide detailed project tracking and documentation.
Prepare solutions and buffers as necessary to complete the above activities.

What You Bring to the Table:

Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or a related life sciences discipline, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques, including hands-on proficiency with standard PCR methods; experience with primer design and DNA sequence analysis is a plus.
Demonstrated experience with genome engineering approaches such as CRISPR-based knockout KO and homology-directed repair, or Tol2 transposon-mediated transgenesis, is highly desirable.
Proficiency with standard restriction enzyme cloning strategies and associated diagnostic assays.
Experience with in vitro transcription and RNA purification techniques preferred.
Hands-on experience working with animal models, including routine husbandry; prior work with zebrafish or
C. elegans
is strongly preferred.
Solid working knowledge of common laboratory equipment, best practices, and standard operating procedures.
Prior experience with microinjection techniques is highly preferred.
Familiarity with genome assemblies and annotation resources such as Ensembl or NCBI.
Experience designing and constructing plasmids using vector design software (e.g., Benchling, ApE, or equivalent) preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, and a high level of reliability and accountability.
