The Three-Dimensional Studies Lab Technician role at CCAD is a part-time position that provides operational support within the Woodshop and Three-Dimensional Studies facilities of the college. The technician coordinates their work under the supervision of the Lab & Studio Manager, works with the Woodshop & Three-Dimensional Studies Lab Manager, assists faculty from various departments, and is responsible for the direction of student workers in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of professional and safety practices in fabrication and shop operation as well as proficiency in creating molds for casting, woodworking, and finishing. In addition, those who demonstrate the ability to work in multidisciplinary approaches and practices (metals, ceramics, glass, fibers) will be given additional consideration. Candidates with shop safety or OSHA certification will be given priority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following):
Oversee shop use and maintenance of shop equipment
Enforce safety protocols and guidelines of the shops and their equipment
Offer technical guidance and assistance to students during open lab hours
Responsible for maintaining student employees schedules and accurately approving their timecards.
Supervise student workers on maintenance tasks, cleaning, and organization of the facilities
Provide fabrication and repair services for the facilities
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's or Associate degree in related field preferred; or an equivalent to a minimum of 3 years of professional shop experience.
Experience in the safe operation and maintenance of standard shop equipment (table saw, planer, jointer, lathe, and other various hand and power tools).
Experience fastening, gluing, painting, and finishing a variety of materials.
Experience with making molds from multiple types of materials and at various scales.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Departmental Support- Conduct, direct or assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research. Participate in regularly schedule cross trained rotation and demonstrate continued competency in various sections of the Clinical Laboratory. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency.
* Technical Skills and Knowledge- Possess the appropriate skills and theory necessary to independently perform a variety of laboratory tests. Show competency of skills. Operate instruments; perform checks, calibrations, preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting from written guidelines. Perform and report Quality Control Procedures. Identify Q.C. failures and corrects malfunctions identified. Prepare sample for analysis. Store and preserve specimen. Prepare reagents, assist with the monitoring supply inventories, receive and stock supplies. Perform registration and sample collection as required by location. Position Description:
• Maintains proficiency in and follows documented analytical procedures and program to provide QC testing in the Grain Inspection Laboratory.
• Follows all Laboratory and Company rules/guidelines, including Safety, GMP, and Personnel policies.
• Communicates any unusual problems or developments relative to product quality to the QC Lead Technician or Site Supervisor.
• Answer internal phone calls regarding product concerns.
• Meet deadlines.
• Perform duties related to the Grain Inspection Laboratory as required or directed by the Site Supervisor or Team Leader
• Identifies and reports problems with equipment or procedures to shift leaders, and assists in regular maintenance of equipment.
• Read and understand all procedures that pertain to testing being performed.
Job Requirements:
• Three positions available:
Saturday and Sunday 12:30pm to 11:00pm for the part time position for 20 hours each week
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday from 6:30am to 5:00pm for 40 hours each week
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30am to 7:00pm for 30 hours each week
Pay: $14.50 per hour
