Job Responsibilities: Plans, coordinates, and conducts training and related instructional programs for customer personnel. Demonstrate subject matter expertise/mastery of the course content requirements. Demonstrate expertise and proficiency in the methods and techniques for delivery of instruction. Provide training and education (T&E) to prepare service members in area of expertise. Instruct individuals/teams/units in establishment and reconstitution of DEPMEDs. Ensure accountability and maintenance of assigned equipment. Provide instruction as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for elementary and advanced examinations of biological and environmental specimens to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and other medical disorders. Provide instruction on elementary blood-banking and clinical laboratory procedures in hematology immunohematology, biochemistry, serology, bacteriology, parasitology, and urinalysis.

1. Conducts training sessions and may assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.

2. Coordinates logistics for instruction events, including scheduling classes, reserving classrooms, and preparing workstations.

3. Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.

4. May assist in the development and establishment of course content and objectives.

5. May update course documentation as needed to ensure timeliness and relevance.

6. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

7. Participates in special projects as required.

Johns Hopkins University laboratory instructor job description

The Clinical/Laboratory Instructor has responsibility for teaching primarily in the clinical and laboratory settings and incorporates evidence-based practice into teaching activities. Applicants must have completed the SON compliance requirements for faculty teaching in the clinical setting and any additional compliance requirements of the institutions where clinical teaching is assigned including but not limited to a background check, documentation of vaccinations and titers, and required training.

The role requires two years of providing direct patient care as an RN or advanced practice nurse in a clinical area that provides relevant experience where the applicant seeks to provide clinical instruction.

. Experience as a clinical educator is preferred. The role requires excellent organizational, written and oral interpersonal communication skills. The Clinical/Laboratory Instructor reports to the Clinical Course Coordinator or Laboratory Course Coordinator when leading a clinical or laboratory group and ultimately reports to the Clinical Coordinator of the MSN (Entry into Nursing) Program.

Responsibilities

+ Teaching

+ Responsible for teaching in the clinical/laboratory and settings including simulation approaches to teaching in the MSN (Entry into Nursing) Program

+ Submits an updated curriculum vitae (CV) to the JHSON as part of the annual required compliance process

+ Follows direction of the Clinical Coordinator and Program Director of the MSN (Entry into Nursing) Program regarding the adoption of teaching approaches to achieve academic program outcomes.

+ Works under the direction of the Clinical Course Coordinator or Laboratory Course Coordinator when leading a clinical or laboratory group.

+ Attends course planning meetings as directed by the Clinical Course Coordinator.

+ Completes all training as directed by the Clinical Course Coordinator.

+ Meets all compliance requirements of the clinical sites assigned.

+ Attends orientation for the clinical sites assigned.

+ Ensures that all students in the assigned clinical group have completed compliance requirements for the assigned clinical site.

+ Applies principles of adult learning and evidence-based practice.

+ Prepares and submits incident reports related to student exposures according to site and SON policies.

+ Takes students to the Occupational Health Clinic following exposures as directed by the Infectious Disease or Occupational Health official at the clinical site.

+ Adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that protects the privacy of student educational records.

+ Works collaboratively with nurse managers, staff nurses, and other representatives of the clinical units assigned.

+ Meets with students as requested or when necessary to address student performance concerns.

+ Works closely with students' clinical course coordinator when a student's performance in clinical/laboratory/course places the student at risk for failure.

+ Provides students with a recommended plan for academic improvement as needed and follows up to determine if student performance improves.

To provide dental hygiene coverage during the operation of the dental clinic.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills

Required to hold a dental hygiene license to practice in the State of Maryland. Must be CPR certified. Recognition to administer Local Anesthesia is required or will be obtained immediately upon hire.

Organizational Relationships

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

1. Reviews medical history forms of patients in the clinic. If a medical history is questionable, the part-time clinical lab hygienist will consult with the clinic dentist who will determine if the patient should receive care in the dental hygiene clinic.

2. Reviews and evaluates x-rays taken of patients in the clinic.

3. Reviews and evaluates students with patients by observing and instructing students

in regard to history taking, scaling, polishing, charting, and probing as well as all clinical services provided by the clinic.

4. Answers all questions of instructors and students in regard to patient problems in the

clinic.

5. Executes emergency care procedures, when necessary.

6. Serves as a consultant to students and faculty in the clinic.

7. Makes comments and suggestions to the Program Director and the Clinical Coordinator concerning procedures.

8. Utilizes standardized grading methods and clinic evaluation procedures.

9. Enhances the attitude and professionalism of the student by wearing appropriate

attire and following proper clinical protocol as outlined in the Dental Hygiene Policies Handbook.

10. Attends department staff meetings when requested.

11. Assists with maintenance of the Dental Hygiene clinic and equipment.

12. Assists clinical coordinator with grade calculation for clinical courses.

Secondary Responsibilites

Referral of Patients

1. Patients of record who need follow-up care will be referred to the patient's

dentist of record. Solicitation of patients who have documented dentists of record will be construed as unprofessional and grounds for dismissal.

2. In the event the clinic patient of record does not have a documented dentist of record, the patient will be advised to check the telephone directory.

3. Direct solicitation of patients for part-time clinic staff will not be allowed.
